BENEFITS
Limits the amount of the applied sealant, acts as a barrier interface to prevent backside adhesion (bondbreaker), and provides a form to assist the
sealant in developing the shape factor and depth to width ratio of the sealant.
COMPATIBILITY
SOF庐ROD is basically an inert material, and therefore compatible both physically and chemically with virtually all known cold applied sealants
including self-leveling types.
INSTALLATION
Verify that the joint is clean, moisture free and clear of obstructions. Select SOF庐ROD in a diameter approximately 25% larger than the joint. Cut
SOF庐ROD to the desired length or dispense directly from the reel. Position SOF庐ROD in the joint at the depth specified by the sealant manufacturer,
engineer, or architect. Press SOF庐ROD uniformly into the joint using a blunt tool. Apply sealant over SOF庐ROD following the sealant manufacturer鈥檚
directions.
PRECAUTIONS
Do not puncture, over compress or stretch SOF庐ROD during insertion. Do not use with hot applied sealants. Tests for outgassing of cold applied
sealants shall be made in accordance with ASTM Test Method C 1253. Sealant compatibility should be confirmed by the sealant manufacturer.
Compatibility characteristics of sealants in contact with sealant backings can be determined by ASTM Test Method C 1087.
