EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE
Based upon animal toxicity information available for this material, direct skin or eye
contact can produce skin or eye damage and/or burns. Mists of product can produce
irritation of mucous membranes. May be harmful or fatal if swallowed.

OVEREXPOSURE MAY AGGRAVATE EXISTING CONDITIONS:
No effects indicated.

EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES:
Eyes: Flush eyes with large amounts of running water for at least 15 minutes. Hold
eyelids apart to ensure rinsing of the entire surface of the eye and lids with water.
Get immediate medical attention. If physician not available, flush for additional 15
minutes and then transport victim to medical care.

Skin: Wash with large amounts of running water, and soap if available, for 15 minutes.
Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Get immediate medical attention. Wash
clothing and decontaminate shoes before reuse.

Ingestion: If swallowed, immediately give 3-4 glasses of milk (if unavailable, give
water). DO NOT induce vomiting. If vomiting occurs, give fluids again. Get immediate
medical attention. Have physician determine if patient's condition allows for
induction of vomiting or evacuation of the stomach. Do not give anything by mouth to a
convulsing or unconscious person.

Inhalation: Remove from area to fresh air. If not breathing, clear airway and start
artificial respiration. If victim is having trouble breathing, give supplemental

************************ VI - SPILL AND DISPOSAL INFORMATION ***********************

STEPS TO BE TAKEN IN CASE OF MATERIAL SPILL OR RELEASE
DANGER! Corrosive material. Wear appropriate protective equipment and NIOSH approved
respirator where mists or vapors of unknown concentrations may be generated (self-
contained breathing apparatus preferred).

Dike and contain spill with inert material (sand, earth, etc.) and transfer the liquid
and solid separately to containers for recovery or disposal. Keep spill out of sewers
and open bodies of water.

WASTE DISPOSAL METHODS
Dispose of in compliance with all Federal, state and local laws and regulations.
Incineration is the preferred method.

*********************** VII - PERSONAL PROTECTION INFORMATION **********************

ENGINEERING CONTROLS
In processes where mists or vapors may be generated, proper ventilation must be
provided in accordance with good ventilation practices.

RESPIRATORY PROTECTION
In processes where mists or vapors may be generated, a NIOSH approved respirator is
advised in the absence of proper environmental controls.

PROTECTIVE GLOVES
Rubber or neoprene, to prevent skin contact.

EYE PROTECTION
Wear chemical splash goggles where there is a potential for eye contact. Use safety
glasses with side shields under normal use conditions.

OTHER PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Eye wash; safety shower; protective clothing (long sleeves, coveralls or other, as
appropriate), to prevent skin contact.

************************** IX - TOXICOLOGY INFORMATION *****************************

No information found for this material. The information below is for the closely
related material, Bio-Surf I-20:
- oral LD50 (male rat): 1520 mg/kg
- oral LD50 (female rat): 1480 mg/kg
- dermal LD50 (female rabbits): greater than 2000 mg/kg
- skin irritation (rabbit): 0.5 ml applied to the abraded and non-abraded skin of
rabbits for 24 hours under occlusion caused defined redness at 72 hours, post-dose.
(primary irritation index 1.0)
- eye irritation (rabbit): 0.1 ml instilled to the eye with washing produced moderate
to severe eye irritation that did not totally clear by day 14, post-dose
- in rabbits, 0.2 and 1.0 grams/kg applied to the skin five days per week for three
weeks was found to cause dose-related skin irritation and decreased weight gain
- in rats, oral administration of 27 to 587 mg/kg/day on days 5 to 14 gestation was
not teratogenic but was lethal to 50% of the females treated at the highest dose
level

For Iodine (ACGIH information):
Iodine is highly irritating to the skin, eyes and mucous membranes. Signs and symptoms
include irritation and burning of the eyes, tearing, coughing and irritation of the
nose and throat. Oral overdose causes stomach pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
