Health Effects
The main health hazard arises from inhalation of solvents, Toluene, n Butyl Acetate and ethyl
Acetate. Inhalation of high vapour concentrations causes irritation to nose and throat
followed by headaches and narcosis. Prolonged contact with lower concentrations can be
moderately irritating to the eyes and may cause dermatitis.
Signs and symptoms
of exposure: Headache, dizziness, nausea, staggering gait, confusion, unconsciousness.
Acute: Irritation, burning of eyes and skin, nervous system depression.
Chronic: Reports have associated repeated and prolonged overexposure to solvent
with permanent brain damage.
First Aid
Eye: In case of eye contact immediately flush with plenty of water for at least 15
minutes. Call a physician.
Skin: In case of skin contact wash with soap and water. If irritation occurs consult
a physician.
Inhalation: Remove victim from exposure to fresh air. Remove contaminated clothing
and loosen remaining clothing. Make patient comfortable and keep warm.
If breathing has stopped apply artificial respiration and seek medical advice.
May cause nose and throat irritation. May cause irritation or burning eyes.
Repeated or prolonged liquid contact may cause skin irritation with
discomfort or dermatitis.
Ingestion: Gastro intestinal distress. Seek immediate medical assistance.
Advice to
Doctor: Treat symptomatically as for exposure to individual solvents.

Use only with adequate ventilation.
Personal Protection
Avoid skin and eye contact. Wear gloves, face shield or goggles and overalls. Always wash
hands before smoking, eating or drinking. Store in original container, away from excessive
heat and keep in dry area.

Use with adequate ventilation and avoid breathing vapours.

SAFE HANDLING INFORMATION
Precautions to be taken in Handling and Storing
Observe label precautions and keep away from heat, sparks, & flames. Close container after
each use. Ground container when pouring. Do not store over 120 degrees F. Wash hands
thoroughly after handling before eating.
Spill and Leak Procedure
Ventilate area and remove sources of ignition. Prevent skin contact and breathing vapours.
Continue and remove with inert absorbent. Dispose in accordance with applicable Federal,
State and Local Regulations. (Do not incinerate in closed containers).
Ventilation: Use local exhaust.
Storage and Transport
Classified as a dangerous substance for storage or transport. Refer to State Regulations for
storage or transport requirements. Not to be loaded with gases (class 2), spontaneously
combustible substances (class 4.2) or oxidising agents (class 5). Store in a cool place and out
of direct sunlight. Store away from sources of heat or ignition. In case of accident follow
spill or fire-fighting procedures above.
Fire and Explosion
Extinguishing Media: Carbon Dioxide, Dry Chemical, Foam
Fire Fighting Procedures: Full protective equipment, including self contained breathing
apparatus is recommended. Water from fog nozzle may be used to cool containers to prevent
pressure build up.
Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: When heated above the flash point flammable
vapours may be emitted. Fine mists or sprays may be flammable at temperatures below the
flash point.
