3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
Class Name of Hazardous Chemicals for SDS in Japan: Not applicable
Adverse Human Health Effects:
Effect of over exposure: We have never faced the poisoning problem attributed to Basitac
75% WP on laboratory researchers, factory workers and users, however, if contact with
eyes, it may cause slight eye irritant. Over-exposure experiments on animals showed that
the administration of an extra-ordinary large quantity of Basitac 75% WP may cause
hypoactivity, abnormal walking and prostration.
Physical and Chemical Hazards:
Flammable, may cause dust explosion (>300 mg/L air)

4. FIRST AID MEASURES
Skin Contact: -----Wash material off the skin in flowing water or shower with soap. If irritation
persists, consult a physician immediately.
Eye Contact: ------Immediately flush with copious amount of water for at least 15 minutes. If
irritation persists, consult a physician.
Inhalation: ---------Remove the victim to fresh air and keep him warm and quiet. Get a medical
attention immediately. If not breathing, clear the airway and give artificial
respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen.
Ingestion: ----------Induce vomiting by giving one or two glasses of water. Get a medical

MSDS Basitac 75% WP 1/3
attention immediately. If the victim is unconscious or having convulsions,
never give fluids or induce vomiting.
5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
Flash Point: No data available
Flammability: Flammable
Extinguishing Media: Dry chemical powder, foam, carbon dioxide or dry sand
Special Fire Fighting Procedure:
鈥? For small fires, use dry chemical powder, carbon dioxide or dry sand.
鈥? For big fires, foam extinguisher is effective to shut off air. Water may enlarge fire.
鈥? For a fire in surrounding area, apply water to cool and protect surrounding equipments.
Remove containers, if feasible, from the fire area to safe place immediately.
鈥? Fire fighters should wear protective gears including a positive pressure self-contained
breathing apparatus (SCBA). Evacuate non essential personnel.
6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
鈥? Evacuate non essential personnel by roping an area of leak or spill. Evacuate people to
upwind of the spilled area. Remove all sources of ignition; No flares, smoking, or flames in
the area immediately. Wear protective gears and never work downwind.
鈥? For small spills, adsorb with inert materials (e.g. dry sand or earth), then place in a waste
chemical container for disposal. Flush residual spill (area) with a plenty of water.
鈥? For large spills, dike with sand to lead spill to safe place and then cover with foam. Place in
a waste chemical container as much as possible. Flush residual spill (area) with a plenty of
water. Prevent spills from entering sewers, watercourses or low areas.
7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
Handling Precaution: KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN
鈥? Wear appropriate protective gears to avoid breathing vapour and contact with skin, eyes or
clothing. Handle the product in upwind.
鈥? Use with local ventilation and keep containers tightly closed each time after use. .
鈥? Shut off all gas pilot and electrical (spark or hot wire) igniters and other sources of ignition
during use.
鈥? Do not expose to friction or shock. Avoid rough handling or dropping.
Storage Precaution:
鈥? All the electrical appliances used in a storage should be installed directly to the ground.
The appliances must be explosion-proof.
鈥? Keep containers tightly closed and store in a cool, dark and dry place. Keep away from heat,
steam pipe or combustible materials.
鈥? A great quantity of hazardous material should be stored in the appropriate storage set up
under the regulation.
鈥? It will coagulate in low temperatures, so careful attention is needed for temperature drop in
winter time.
8. EXPOSURE CONTROL/PERSONAL PROTECTION
Control Parameters:
ACGIH TLV (1992-93) Not established
Engineering Controls:
鈥? The use of local exhaust ventilations is recommended. Containers should be kept tightly
closed.
鈥? Make available emergency showers and eye washes in a work area.
Personal Protective Equipment:
鈥? Wear chemical cartridge respirator with an organic vapour cartridge, safety goggles,
chemical-resistant gloves and boots as appropriate.
9. PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES
Appearance, Physical state, Form, Colour, Odour:
White fine powder with slight pungent odour
Bulk Density: 0.13 - 0.23
Fineness: >99% (45 m)
Wettability: 2 min.
Suspensibility: >70%
Dispersibility: >90%
PH (x 10): 4.0 鈥? 7.0

13. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS
Waste should be disposed of in a chemical incinerator following the methods mentioned below
as appropriate.
鈥? Burn by spraying into the burner of incinerator equipped with afterburner and scrubber as
toxic gases (hydrochloric gas, etc.) emit while burning.
鈥? For disposal of small amount, adsorb with diatom earth and then burn in chemical incinerator
equipped with afterburner and scrubber.
鈥? Do not dump into sewers or into any body of water.
鈥? The water containing the product should be drained after being cleaned up by activated
sludge.
