Description
Intergrain Tung Oil is a deep penetrating, clear sealer designed to enrich and protect the natural beauty of all interior timber. Tung
Oil imparts a traditional satin lustre that is easy to repair and resistant to dirt, water and mild alcohol.

Uses
Use on all interior timber floors and woodwork including, furniture, doors, panelling, beams and trimwork. Ideal for use where a
traditional finish that enhances the grain and colour of the timber is desired.

Application Guide
Surface Preparation
All existing coatings need to be completely removed back to bare timber to allow penetration of the Tung Oil Finish. A combination
of Intergrain Liquid 8 Paint Remover and sanding is recommended. Sand timber to achieve an even, smooth surface, free of
scratches. Ensure the timber is dry and free from all dust, dirt, wax and oil. Oily timbers such as Brushbox, Spotted Gum, Cypress
and Tallowwood and timbers rich in tannin should be cleaned with mineral turpentine and allowed to dry. Nail holes and surface
defects should be filled with Intergrain Woodblend.
Application Procedure and Equipment
General:
Apply a coat of Tung Oil Finish using a quality long bristle brush or lambswool applicator working along the length of the boards or
direction of the grain on benchtops and woodwork. Take care not to overwork or overspread the coating as this will result in a
patchy uneven finish. When using Tung Oil Finish on benchtops take care to apply sufficient product to underside and end grain to
prevent moisture absorption.
Allow a minimum of 12 hours to dry before sanding lightly using a 320 grit sandpaper to remove any raised grain. Vacuum to
remove sanding dust and apply second coat as above. Depending upon the porosity and age of the timber further coats may be
required to achieve the desired gloss level and finish.
To achieve a low lustre hand rubbed finish on woodwork:
Apply a generous coat of Tung Oil Finish with a long bristle brush ensuring even distribution across the surface. Rub in thoroughly
along the grain with 000 Steel wool or 400 grade wet and dry sandpaper. Allow 20 to 30 minutes to penetrate then wipe surface
with a clean soft cloth to remove excess oil. Leave to dry 12 hours. Repeat coats as necessary until a smooth finish is achieved.
Allow final coat to dry 12 hours, before buffing thoroughly to a soft uniform lustre.

Precautions and Limitations
Do not apply product if temperature is below 10掳C or is likely to fall below 10掳C during the drying period. Moisture content of timber
should be close to equilibrium moisture content, usually 10-15%, but not exceeding 15%, for satisfactory application. For interior
use only.
