Description
Intergrain Ultraclear is a tough, fast drying, clear, water based acrylic finish for use on interior timber. Ultraclear incorporates UV
absorbers to provide greater protection against the yellowing and darkening of timber, commonly encountered with oil based
coatings.

Uses
Use on all interior timber including doors, windows, furniture and joinery. Ultraclear is ideal for use where maintaining the timber?s
natural colour is desired, especially with pale timbers such as pine, ash and cedar. NOTE - Ultraclear is not suitable for exterior
use.

Application Guide
Surface Preparation
All timber surfaces should be thoroughly clean, dry and free from wax, oil, grease and other contaminants. Wash with mineral
turpentine if needed to remove wax and grease, allow to dry, and lightly sand dressed surfaces with "00" paper or finer, always
sand in direction of the grain.
Fill nail holes with INTERGRAIN Woodblend Putty - do not use a linseed oil putty.
Application Procedure and Equipment
NEW OR BARE TIMBER:
Sand dressed timbers to a uniform, smooth surface. Ensure the timber is dry and free from all dirt, dust, wax and oils. Oily timbers
such as Brushbox, Spotted Gum, Cypress and Tallowwood and timbers rich in tannin should be cleaned with methylated spirits and
allowed to dry.
PREVIOUSLY FINISHED TIMBER:
Clean surface with warm water and household detergent. Sand thoroughly until a uniform, matt surface is achieved. Vacuum and
wipe off dust.
Check for adhesion by applying Ultraclear to a small test area. Allow to dry for 24 hours then firmly press sticky tape to the test
area and rip off quickly. If the coating does not come off, sand the whole area to a uniform surface and proceed. If the coating
comes off, it must be thoroughly sanded back to bare timber.
Stir thoroughly before and during use with a flat paddle. Do not shake or thin.
If project requires more than one tinted can, mix all cans together in one large container to ensure uniformity of colour and sheen
level.
Apply a minimum of two generous coats of Ultraclear, taking care to apply sufficient product to edges and end grain.
Apply with a quality synthetic or pure bristle brush or spray (HVLP or airless).
When applying by brush lay off in the direction of the grain. Do not overwork as this can result in poor appearance.
Sand lightly with fine grit sandpaper between coats to remove any raised grain.
If using tinted Ultraclear, the colour will become deeper with each application. If desired colour is achieved after one coat, apply
untinted Ultraclear to complete the required number of coats.

Precautions and Limitations
Do not use steel wool on timber to be coated with Ultraclear as severe staining will occur.
Do not apply in temperatures above 30掳C or below 10掳C.
Do not apply to hot surfaces or those in direct sunlight as doing so may result in difficult application and poor adhesion.
Do not roll.
