DESCRIPTION:
A highly penetrative, light plant oil/beeswax interim wood protectorant. Designed as a single (1 only)
application catering for exposed, raw timber鈥檚 needs prior to final finishing. WOODGUARD will assist in the
reduction of weather -staining, tannin (and other nutrient) leach-out, as well as structural / "shape" problems
arising from rapid moisture intake / loss.

USES:
EXTERIOR 鈥? New, untreated timber Decking, Joists/Bearers, Posts/Rails, Cladding, Joinery, Pergolas,
Garden Furniture etc.
INTERIOR- Proposed internal feature timbers that may be exposed during construction.

SPECIAL NOTES:
a) Given demand pressures, greater quantities of hardwoods (particularly Spotted Gum and
plantation species) are arriving at construction site precariously high in moisture content. Even
though oil/wax treatments are the soundest principle for facilitating wood-seasoning, they may not be
capable of addressing inappropriately high moisture-content lumber. Enquire as to the grade/s and
moisture levels of your supply.
b) With proposed slabs and structural joists, bearers, posts etc. you should also consider wax-
sealing endgrains. Conduct after application of WOODGUARD (min 4 / max. 14 days). Beeswax paste
is best option.

APPEARANCE:
Little, or no colour imparting. Though upholds other functions, will steadily fade under U-V light during it鈥檚 2-3
month鈥檚 performance. Within 10-12 weeks you should be conducting finishing option/s.

SIZES AVAILABLE:
2 litre, 4 litre & 10 litre cans. For availability visit website home page.

COVERAGE
Softwoods Hardwoods
Rough-sawn 3-4 sq. metres/litre 7-9 sq. metres/litre
Dressed 6-7 sq. metres/litre 10 -12 sq. metres/litre

PREPARATION:
1. Remove all sawdust, nails, metal filings, sand, cement dust etc. from on or near timber surfaces
prior to (and after) application of WOODGUARD. Such materials contain elements that can markedly
stain should any moisture react with them!
2. Ensure timber is clean and dry (min. 48 hours since last wetted).

APPLICATION:
1. Stir well prior to use; and frequently do so during use in order to maintain wax content better distributed
throughout medium.
2. Brush, roll, spray or dip (when spraying, eye-protective goggles and mask should be worn/ if skin-sensitive,
wear oil-impervious gloves).
3. Apply ONE coat (liberally on rough-sawn and/or soft woods) to all accessible aspects, giving extra attention
to endgrains. If dipping, fully immerse for 1 鈥? 2minutes and allow to drip dry.

4. Leave to dry under good ventilation. If stacking, ensure you stick appropriately between lengths. If further
conducting end-grain waxing refer Special Note b)above.

CLEAN UP:
Hot soapy water or Gum Turpentine.

FINAL FINISHING
a) It is important to await WOODGUARD鈥檚 surface performance of 2-3 months exposure to elapse 鈥?
this will allow your timber to better season / acclimatise and more readily accept your chosen finish.
b) If using an ORGANOIL nominated finish, just follow it鈥檚 given instructions (although, with the remnants of
WOODGUARD still in your timber, you are likely to gain superior coverage rates 鈥? require less finishing
product than advised).
c) If selecting a coating style finish (and after time frames advised), lightly sand surfaces with 120-180 grit
paper prior to applying chosen coating system under its own instructions.

BOTTOM LINE:
As the age (and grades) of felled lumber decreases, and market pressures restrict patient drying/seasoning
between forest and construction site, consideration of WOODGUARD'S properties and use become more
prudent. If applicable, or you are in doubt, we suggest you use WOODGUARD - besides, given exposure
time gained and likely reduction in finishing product quantities required, it almost pays for itself. Finally, you
are not excused from referring to can鈥檚 instruction label for other storage, disposal, health and safety
considerations.
