Signs and Symptoms of Over Exposure
Headache, dizziness, nausea, staggering gait, confusion, unconciousness.
Accute: Irritation, burning of eyes and skin, nervous system depression.
Chronic: Reports have associated repeated and prolonged overexposure to solvent with
permanent brain damage.
Health Effects
The main health hazard arises from inhalation of solvents, Toluene, n Butyl Acetate and ethyl
Acetate. Inhalation of high vapour concentrations causes irritation to nose and throat followed
by headaches and narcosis. Prolonged contact with lower concentrations can be moderately
irritating to the eyes and may cause dermatitis.
First Aid
Inhalation: May cause nose and throat irritation. Remove victim from exposure to fresh
air. Remove contaminated clothing and loosen remaining clothing. Make patient comfortable
and keep warm. If breathing has stopped apply artificial respiration and seek medical advice.
Eye Contact: May cause irritation or burning eyes, flush eyes with plenty of water for at least
15 minutes. Call a physician.
Skin Contact: In case of skin contact wash with soap and water. Repeated or prolonged
liquid contact may cause skin irritation with discomfort or dermatitis. If irritation occurs
consult a physician.
Ingestion: Gastro intestinal distress, call a physician.
PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
Ventilation
Use only with adequate ventilation. Vapours are heavier than air - prevent concentration in
hollows.
Personal Protection
Avoid skin and eye contact. Wear gloves, face shield or goggles. Always wash hands before
smoking, eating or drinking.

Fire & Explosion Hazard
Fire Fighting Procedures: Full protective equipment, including self contained breathing
apparatus is recommended. Water from fog nozzle may be used to cool containers to prevent
pressure build up.
Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: When heated above the flash point flammable vapours
may be emitted. Fine mists or sprays may be flammable at temperatures below the flash point.
Extinguishing media: Carbon dioxide or dry chemical or foam for fires. Keep adjacent drums
cool with water spray. Wash hands thoroughly after eating and drinking.
Spill and Leak Procedure
Observe label precautions and keep away from heat, sparks and flames. Close container after
each use. Ground container when pouring. Do not store over 120潞F. Wash hands thoroughly
after handling, before eating.
Steps to be taken in case Material is Released or Spilled: Ventilate area and remove sources
of ignition. Prevent skin contact and breathing vapours. Confine and remove with inert
absorbent. Dispose in accordance with applicable Federal, State and Local Regulations. (Do
not incinerate in closed containers).
Storage and Transport
Classified as a dangerous substance for storage or transport. Refer to State Regulations for
storage or transport requirements.
Store in a cool place and out of direct sunlight. Store away from sources of heat or ignition.
In case of accident follow spill or fire-fighting procedures above.
In accordance with good industrial practice avoid unnecessary personal contact. Wash face
and hands before eating, drinking or smoking. Store in original container, away from excessive
heat and keep in a dry area.
