Date of Last Revision: June 02, 2008 Page 1 of 6
POTENTIAL ACUTE HEALTH EFFECTS:
EYE CONTACT:
Exposure can cause eye irritation.

SKIN CONTACT:
May cause skin irritation.

INGESTION:
Can cause gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. May cause kidney damage. Symptoms similar to
those caused by inhalation may occur.

INHALATION:
May cause respiratory irritation. Inhalation is the main route of lead intoxication. Symptoms may not develop quickly,
therefore there may be no immediate effects of exposure. The effects of overexposure to lead may include decreased
physical stamina, fatigue, sleep disturbance, headaches, aching bones and muscles, constipation, abdominal pains, and
decreased appetite. Inhalation of large amounts may cause seizures, coma or possibly death.

Routes of Exposure: Inhalation, ingestion, skin and eye contact.

POTENTIAL CHRONIC HEALTH EFFECTS:
Lead is a cumulative poison. Increasing amounts of lead can build up in the body and may reach a point where symptoms
and disabilities occur. Symptoms include anemia, pale skin, decreased strength, abdominal pain, severe constipation,
nausea, vomiting, and paralysis. If the nervous system is affected, symptoms include severe headaches, convulsions,
delirium, coma, and possibly death. Continuous exposure may result in decreased fertility. Lead is a teratogen.
Overexposure of lead by either parent before pregnancy may increase the chances of miscarriage or birth defects. See
Sec. 11 for Toxicological Information.

Medical conditions aggravated by exposure: Any pre-existing lung or pulmonary condition.

4. FIRST AID MEASURES
INHALATION:
If breathing is stopped, give artificial respiration. Remove victim to fresh air. Get medical attention. If conscious, have
victim clear nasal passsages.

INGESTION:
Seek immediate medical attention. If swallowed and the person is conscious, drink water and induce vomiting.

EYES:
Seek medical attention if any irritation persists. Immediately flush with large quantities of water for at least 15 minutes. Do
not let victim rub eyes.

SKIN:
Seek medical attention if irritation persists. Wash exposed area with soap and water.

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
FLASH POINT (掳 F) Not applicable.

OSHA FLAMMABILITY CLASSIFICATION: Not Applicable.

EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Use extinguishing media same as for surrounding material. This material is not combustible
and is not anticipated to react with commercially employed extinguishing media.

SPECIAL FIREFIGHTING PROCEDURES: Contain run-off from fire. Firefighters and others who may be exposed to
products of combustion should wear full firefighting turn-out gear (full Bunker gear) and self contained breathing
apparatus (SCBA) pressure demand NIOSH approved or equivalent.

AUTOIGNITION TEMP (掳 F) Unknown

Date of Last Revision: June 02, 2008 Page 2 of 6
UNUSUAL FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS: None.

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
ACTION TO BE TAKEN IF MATERIAL IS RELEASED OR SPILLED:
The spill should first be contained and the area should be cleaned by wet-sweeping or vacuum cleaning (HEPA filter).
Protect against identified hazards through use of personal protection equipment and proper work and hygiene practices.
Limit foot and vehicular traffic to minimize mechanical agitation and dispersion. This material is considered hazardous.
During spill cleanup, residual wash waters should be contained and collected for disposal. Precautionary measures
should be taken to prevent material from entering waterways.

CONTAINMENT TECHNIQUES: This is a solid material and will not travel far from the spill location unless mechanically
agitated. Therefore, no specific containment techniques are recommended outside of restricting access to the spill
location.

SPILL RESPONSE EQUIPMENT:
鈥? Vacuum, equipped with HEPA filter
鈥? Broom, wet mop
鈥? Dustpan, shovel or scoop
鈥? Bags, drums or sacks for collection
鈥? Gloves (rubber or leather)
鈥? Cotton or tyvek coveralls
鈥? Chemical/safety impact goggles
鈥? Respiratory equipment as recommended in Section 8.0

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
HANDLING:
Avoid dust generation. Wear all specified elements of PPE. Be familiar with the requirements set forth in the OSHA Lead
Standard 29 CFR 1910.1025.

STORAGE:
Store in a cool, dry, well ventilated area. Use care when handling and storing containers to prevent damage. Avoid
contact with oxidizers and chemically active metals.

8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION
ENGINEERING CONTROLS: Use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation, or other engineering controls to keep
airborne levels below recommended exposure limits. If user operations generate dust, fume or mist, use ventilation to
keep exposure to airborne contaminants below the exposure limit.

RESPIRATORY PROTECTION EQUIPMENT: Where lead dust or fumes are generated and cannot be controlled to
within acceptable levels by engineering means, use appropriate NIOSH-approved respiratory protection equipment (a 42
CFR 84 Class N, R or P-100 particulate filter cartridge). When exposure levels are unknown, a self-contained breathing
apparatus which supplies a positive air pressure within a full face-piece mask should be worn. Utilization of respiratory
equipment should be in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.1025 and 29 CFR 1910.134.

PROTECTIVE GLOVES: Leather or rubber gloves are recommended.

EYE AND FACE PROTECTION: Use safety glasses or chemical goggles.

OTHER PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Protective clothing is required if the exposure exceeds the PEL or TLV. Full body,
cotton or disposable coveralls should be worn during use and handling. Clothing should be left at work site and be
properly disposed of or laundered after use. The wash water should be disposed of in accordance with local, state and
federal regulations. Personal clothing should be protected from contamination.

12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION
ENVIRONMENTAL FATE: While lead metal and its compounds are generally insoluble, its processing or extended
exposure in the aquatic and terrestrial environments may lead to the release of lead in bioavailable forms. If released into
water, lead and lead compounds will partly settle out due to their fairly low solubility and partially dissolve. Lead
compounds are not particularly mobile in the aquatic environment but can be toxic for organisms, especially fish, at low
concentrations. Water hardness, pH and dissolved organic carbon content are factors which regulate the degree of
toxicity. In soil, lead and its compounds are generally not very mobile or bioavailable, as they can be strongly absorbed on
soil particles, increasingly over time. It also forms complexes with organic matter and clay minerals that limits its mobility.
When released into the soil, this material is not expected to leach into groundwater.

ENVIRONMENTAL TOXICITY: No data at this time.
