**** SECTION 3 - HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION ****

EMERGENCY OVERVIEW
Highly flammable. Harmful if swallowed. Very toxic by inhalation.
Causes burns.Moisture sensitive.

Potential Health Effects
Eye:
Causes eye burns. Lachrymator (substance which increases the flow
of tears).
Skin:
Causes skin burns. May be absorbed through the skin.
Ingestion:
Harmful if swallowed. May cause severe gastrointestinal tract
irritation with nausea, vomiting and possible burns.
Inhalation:
May be fatal if inhaled. May cause irritation of the respiratory
tract with burning pain in the nose and throat, coughing, wheezing,
shortness of breath and pulmonary edema. Inhalation may be fatal as a
result of spasm, inflammation, edema of the larynx and bronchi,
chemical pneumonitis and pulmonary edema.
Chronic:
No information found.

**** SECTION 4 - FIRST AID MEASURES ****

Eyes:
In case of contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for
at least 15 minutes. Get medical aid immediately.
Skin:
In case of contact, immediately flush skin with plenty of water for
at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes.
Get medical aid immediately. Wash clothing before reuse.
Ingestion:
If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting. Get medical aid immediately.
If victim is fully conscious, give a cupful of water. Never give
anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
Inhalation:
POISON material. If inhaled, get medical aid immediately. Remove
victim to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration.
If breathing is difficult, give oxygen.
Notes to Physician:
Treat symptomatically and supportively.

**** SECTION 5 - FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES ****

General Information:
As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in
pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full
protective gear. During a fire, irritating and highly toxic gases
may be generated by thermal decomposition or combustion. Use water
spray to keep fire-exposed containers cool. Flammable liquid and
vapor. Approach fire from upwind to avoid hazardous vapors and toxic
decomposition products. Vapors are heavier than air and may travel to
a source of ignition and flash back. Vapors can spread along the
ground and collect in low or confined areas.
Extinguishing Media:
Water may be ineffective. Use water spray, dry chemical, carbon
dioxide, or appropriate foam.

**** SECTION 6 - ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES ****

General Information: Use proper personal protective equipment as indicated
in Section 8.
Spills/Leaks:
Absorb spill with inert material (e.g. vermiculite, sand or earth),
then place in suitable container. Clean up spills immediately,
observing precautions in the Protective Equipment section. Remove all
sources of ignition. Provide ventilation. Evacuate unnecessary
personnel. Use only non-sparking tools and equipment. Use water
spray to cool and disperse vapors and protect personnel.

**** SECTION 7 - HANDLING and STORAGE ****

Handling:
Wash thoroughly after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and
wash before reuse. Ground and bond containers when transferring
material. Contents may develop pressure upon prolonged storage. Do
not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Empty containers retain
product residue, (liquid and/or vapor), and can be dangerous.
Container should be opened by a technically qualified person. Do not
pressurize, cut, weld, braze, solder, drill, grind, or expose empty
containers to heat, sparks or open flames. Do not breathe vapor. Keep
away from heat, sparks and flame. Use only with adequate ventilation
or respiratory protection.
Storage:
Keep away from sources of ignition. Store in a cool, dry,
well-ventilated area away from incompatible substances.
Refrigerator/flammables.

**** SECTION 8 - EXPOSURE CONTROLS, PERSONAL PROTECTION ****

Engineering Controls:
Facilities storing or utilizing this material should be equipped
with an eyewash facility and a safety shower. Ventilation fans and
other electrical service must be non-sparking and have an
explosion-proof design. Use substance with extreme caution and
designate regulated areas for use. Use process enclosure, local
exhaust ventilation, or other engineering controls to control
airborne levels. Utilize a closed system process where feasible.
Exposure Limits
CAS# 541-41-3:
United Kingdom, WEL - TWA: 1 ppm TWA; 4.5 mg/m3 TWA
United Kingdom, WEL - STEL: 3 ppm STEL; 13.5 mg/m3 STEL

Germany: 4.4 mg/m3 TWA

Personal Protective Equipment

Eyes:
Wear chemical splash goggles and face shield.
Skin:
Wear appropriate protective gloves to prevent skin
exposure.
Clothing:
Wear appropriate protective clothing to prevent skin
exposure.
Respirators:
Follow the OSHA respirator regulations found in 29
CFR 1910.134 or European Standard EN 149. Use a
NIOSH/MSHA or European Standard EN 149 approved
respirator if exposure limits are exceeded or if
irritation or other symptoms are experienced.
