=============  Composition/Information on Ingredients  =============

Name:ARGON, LAR (LIQUID ONLY)
CAS:7440-37-1

=====================  Hazards Identification  =====================

Routes of Entry: Inhalation:YES  Skin:YES  Ingestion:NO
Reports of Carcinogenicity:NTP:NO    IARC:NO	OSHA:NO
Health Hazards Acute and Chronic:ARGON IS ODORLESS AND NONTOXIC, BUT
    MAY PRODUCE SUFFOCATION BY DILUTING THE	CONCENTRATION OF OXYGEN
    IN AIR BELOW LEVELS NECESSARY TO SUPPORT LIFE. EXTENSIVETISSUE
    DAMAGE OR BURNS CAN RESULT FROM E XPOSURE TO LIQUID ARGON OR COLD
    ARGONVAPORS.
Effects of Overexposure:EXPOSURE TO OXYGEN-DEFICIENT ATMOSPHERES MAY
    PRODUCE DIZZINESS, NAUSEA, VOMITINGLOSS OF CONSCIOUSNESS, AND
    DEATH. DEATH MAY RESULT FROM ERRORS IN JUDGMENT, CON-FUSION, OR
    LOSS OF CONSCIOUSNESS WHICH P REVENTS SELF-RESCUE. AT LOW
    OXYGENCONCENTRATIONS UNCONSCIOUSNESS AND DEATH MAY OCCUR IN SECONDS
    WITHOUT WARNING.

=======================  First Aid Measures  =======================

First Aid:PERSONS SUFFERING FROM LACK OF OXYGEN SHOULD BE MOVED TO
    AREAS WITH NORMAL ATMOSCPR AND SUPPLEMENTAL OXYGEN SHOULD BE GIVEN
    IF VICTIM IS NOT BREATHING. IF CRYO-GENIC LIQUID OR COLD BOIL-OFF
    GAS CONTAC TS A WORKER'S SKIN OR EYES,FROZEN TISSUESHOULD BE
    FLOODED OR SOAKED WITH TEPID WATER, NOT HOT. CRYOGENIC BURNS WHICH
    RE-SULT IN BLISTERING OR DEEPER TISSUE FREEZING SHOULD BE SEEN
    PROMPTLY BY A PHYSIC

==================  Accidental Release Measures  ==================

Spill Release Procedures:AVOID SKIN CONTACT. FLUSH LIQUID ARGON SPILL
    WITH WATER TO DISPERSE. VENTILATE ENCLOSED AREAS TO PREVENT
    FORMAITON OF OXYGEN-DEFICIENT ATMOSPHERE CAUSED BY EVAPORATION
    OF LIQUID ARGON OR RELEASE OF GASEOUS ARGON. ARGON IS HEAVIER
    THANAIR.

======================	Handling and Storage  ======================

Handling and Storage Precautions:USE/STORE IN WELL VENTILATED AREAS.
    KEEP CYLINDERSAWAY FROM HEAT SOURCES AND COMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS.
    SEGREGATE FULL/EMPTY CYLINDERS.
Other Precautions:AVOID EXPOSURE TO AREAS WHERE SALT OR OTHER CORROSIVE
    CHEMICALS ARE PRESENT. PREVENT ENTRAPMENT OF LIQUID IN CLOSED
    SYSTEMS. USE A CHECK VALVE TO PREVENT BACKFLOW INTO STORAGE
    CONTAINER.

=============  Exposure Controls/Personal Protection  =============

Respiratory Protection:USE SELF-CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUS IN
    OXYGEN-DEFICIENT ATMOSPHERE.	  CAUTION!  RESPIRATORS WILL
    NOT FUNCTION. USE MAY RESULT IN ASPHYXIATION.
Ventilation:NATURAL OR CHEMICAL WHERE GAS OR VAPORS ARE PRESENT.
Protective Gloves:LEATHER
Eye Protection:SAFETY GLASSES OR CHEMICAL GOGGLES.
Supplemental Safety and Health
VENTS SHOULD BE SITUATED TO AVOID HIGHER THAN NORMAL CONCENTRATION OF
    ARGON IN  WORK AREAS.
