PRIMARY ROUTE OF ENTRY
Inhalation: Dust can cause irritation of the nose, throat, and upper respiratory tract: coughing and choking.
ACGIH Threshold Limit Value:
TLV - TWA 2 mg/m鲁
TLV - STEL 10 mg/m鲁
Inhalation of freshly formed zinc oxide can lead to metal fume fever.
Symptoms: Chills, mild fever and aching muscles and joints lasting 24 hours or less.
Treatment: Rest and keep warm
Prevention: Adequate ventilation. Local exhaust. Approved dust mask or respirator.
Ingestion: Non-toxic. Although ingestion is unlikely, it can result in consequent pain, nausea, vomiting,
thirst and diarrhea.
Skin Contact: Dust may irritate or dry the skin.
Eye Contact: Dust may cause irritation.
ZINC OXIDE IS NOT A CARCINOGEN
FIRST AID MEASURES
Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. If breathing difficult, assist breathing and seek medical attention.
Skin Contact: Wash with soap and water.
Eye Contact: Flush with copious quantities of warm water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention.
PERSONAL PROTECTION AND SAFE HANDLING DATA
Respiratory Protection: Provide sufficient local ventilation if TVL likely to be exceeded.
Wear OSHA approved dust mask or respirator.
Skin Protection: Gloves recommended or use barrier creams.
Eye Protection: Safety goggles recommended.
Other Clothing and Equipment:Full protective clothing is recommended for bulk dust handling.
