Signs and Symptoms of Exposure: Inhalation of dust may cause irritation to the mucous membranes of the upper
respiratory tract. May cause gastric irritation by the liberation of sulfurous acid. May cause irritation, redness, and pain to
the eye. Large doses may result in circulatory disturbances, diarrhea, and central nervous system depression.
Medical Conditions Generally Aggravated by Exposure: Although only moderately toxic in large amounts, sulfites
can pose risk to some asthmatics producing central nervous system depression, bronchconstriction and anaphylaxis.
Basic Fuchsin is a possible carcinogen.
Ingestion: If swallowed, wash out mouth with water provided person is conscious. Seek medical

attention immediately.
First Aid
Procedures: Inhalation: Supply fresh air or oxygen. In case of unconsciousness, place patient on side position for
transportation. Seek medical attention.
Eye Contact: Rinse opened eye for at least 15 minutes under running water. Assure adequate flushing
by separating the eyelids with fingers. Seek medical attention.
Skin Contact: Immediately wash with plenty of soap and water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical
attention.


Section VII 鈥? Precautions for Safe Handling and Use
Accidental Release Measures: Ventilate area and wash spill site after material is picked up and evacuated. Wear
protective clothing, and discard after use. Exercise appropriate precautions to minimize direct contact with skin or eyes.
Prevent inhalation of dust. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.

Waste Disposal Method: Dispose in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
Handling and Storing: Keep container tightly closed. Protect from physical damage. Store in a cool, dry, ventilated area
away from sources of heat, moisture, and incompatibilites. Containers of this material may be hazardous when empty
since they retain product residues.
Other Precautions: Air and moisture sensitive. Do not breathe dust. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing. Ensure
good ventilation / exhaustion at the workplace. Avoid prolonged or repeated exposure.
