3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
Form: Liquid
Color: Clear Dark Red Liquid
Potential Health Effects:
Skin Contact: Frequent or prolonged contact may irritate and cause dermatitis. Low order of toxicity.Skin contact may aggravate an
existing dermatitis condition.
Eye Contact: Slightly irritating but does not injure eye tissue.
Ingestion: Small amounts of this product aspirated into the respiratory system during ingestion or vomiting may cause mild to severe
pulmonary injury, possibly progressing to death. Minimal toxicity
Inhalation: High vapour/aerosol concentrations (greater than approximately 1000 ppm) are irritating to eyes and respiratory tract, may
cause headaches, dizziness, anesthesia, drowsiness, unconsciousness, and other central nervous system effects including deaths.
Chronic Effect : At high oral doses in rats this product caused damage to the stomach, liver, thyroid and urinary bladder. These effects
are not relevant to humans at occupational levels of exposure.
This product contains naphthalene. A National Toxicology Program (NTP) report states that lifetime inhalation exposure to naphthalene
resulted in increases in tumors of the nose in rats. In a previous NTP study, lifetime in halation exposure to naphthalene increased lung
tumors in female mice. The relevance o f the rodent findings to humans is questionable.
Carcinogenicity Classification:
International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC): N/A
U.S. National Toxicology Program (NTP): N/A
U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA): N/A
American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH): N/A

4. FIRST AID MEASURES
Eye Contact: Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. In case of eye irritation, seek medical attention.
Skin Contact: Wipe with absorbent paper or textile towels. Wash off with soap and plenty of water. Do not use organic solvents. In
case of dermatitis, seek medical attention.
After inhalation: Move to fresh air. In case of irritation of respiratory system or mucous membranes, seek medical attention. In case of
indisposition, seek medical attention. In case of prolonged exposure, seek medical attention.
After ingestion: Immediately give plenty (> 500 ml) of water (if possible charcoal slurry). In case of spontaneous vomiting be sure that
vomitus can freely drain due to danger of suffocation. Give water repeatedly. Artificial induction of vomiting should be restricted to first
aid staff. Give nothing by mouth in cases of unconsciousness or convulsion. Seek medical advice.

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
Suitable extinguishing media: Water spray, foam, Carbon dioxide (CO2), Dry Powder.
Unsuitable extinguishing media:
Fire and explosion hazards: Contaminated water from fire hoses or sprinklers, etc. must be prevented from draining into
watercourses, sewers or the ground water. Sufficient measures must be taken to retain water used for extinguishing. Contaminated
water and soil must be disposed of in conformity with local regulation.
Special protective equipment: Wear full protective clothing. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus.
Flash point: > 25 掳C

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Personal protection: Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.
Environmental precautions: Do not flush into surface water, sanitary sewer or ground water system.
Clean-up: Soak up with inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder sawdust). Collect the spilled product
into suitable containers, which must be tightly sealed and properly labeled.
Water Spill: Eliminate sources of ignition. Warn occupants and shipping in surrounding and downwind areas of fire and explosion
hazard and request all to stay clear.
Consult an expert on disposal of recovered material and ensure conformity to local disposal regulations.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
Electrostatic Accumulation Hazard: Yes, use proper bonding and /or grounding procedure.
Additional information regarding safe handling of products with static accumulation potential can be ordered by contacting the American
Petroleum Institute (API) for API Recommended Practice 2003 entitled 鈥淧rotection Against Ignitions Arising Out of Static. Lightning and
Stray Currents鈥? (American Petroleum Institute 1220 L Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20005) or the National Fire Protection
Association (NFPA) for NFPA 77 entitled 鈥? Static Electricity鈥? (National Fire Protection Association). 1 Batterymarch Park. P.O. Box
9101, Qunicy MA 02269-9101).
Storage and Handling: Keep container closed. Handle and open containers with care. Store in a cool, well ventilated place away from
incompatible materials. DO NOT handle or store near an open flame, heat or other sources of ignition. Protect material from direct
sunlight. Material will accumulate static charges which may cause an electrical spark (ignition source). Use proper bonding and/or
grounding procedures. DO NOT pressurize, cut, heat, or weld containers. Empty product containers may contain product residue. Do
Not reuse empty containers without commercial cleaning or reconditioning.

8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION
Exposure controls: The use of local exhaust ventilation is recommended to control process emissions near the source. Laboratory
samples should be handled in a lad hood. Provide mechanical ventilation of confined spaces. See respiratory protection
recommendations.
Personal protection equipment: For open systems where contact is likely, wear safety glasses with side shields, long sleeves, and
chemical resistant gloves.
Where contact may occur, wear safety glasses with side shields.
Where concentrations in air may exceed the limits given in this Section and engineer, work practice or other means of exposure
reduction are not adequate, NIOSH approved respirators may be necessary to prevent overexposure by inhalation.
Eye protection: Suitable goggles or face protection.
Hand protection: Protective gloves.
Skin and body protection: Working clothes, closed footwear.
Respiratory protection: In case of insufficient ventilation wear suitable respiratory equipment.
Workplace Exposure Guidelines
OSHA Regulation 29CFR1910.1000 requires the following permissible exposure limits:
A TWA of 10 ppm (50 mg/m3) and a STEL o f15 ppm (75 mg/m3) for Naphthalene.
The recommended permissible exposure levels indicated above reflect the levels revised by OSHA in 1989 or in subsequent regulatory
activity. Although the 1989 levels have since been vacated by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, we recommend that the lower exposure
levels be observed as reasonable worker protection.
The ACGIH Recommends the Following Threshold Limit Values:
3 3
A TWA of 10 ppm (52 mg/m ) and a STEL of 15 ppm (79 mg/m ) for Naphthalene, with skin and A4 designations.
