Section VI 鈥? Health Hazard Data
Routes(s) of Entry: Inhalation? yes Skin? yes Ingestion? yes
Health Hazards (Acute and Chronic)- acetone is irritating and possibly injurous to eye if not removed promptly. Acetone may increase the toxicity to
liver
And kidney of chemicals such as ethanol, 1,2-dichlorolethane, and chloroform. Humans with liver and kidney disease may be at increased risks to this
potential effect
Carcinogenicity: NTP? IARC Monographs? OSHA Regulated?
Signs and Symptoms of Exposure- high vapor concentrations may cause upper repiratory tract irritation, narcosis (sleepiness, dizziness etc) and eye
irritation. Prolonged skin contact may cause mild to moderate local redness and swelling. Contact with eyes may cause severe irritation, experienced
as discomfort or pain, excessive blinking and tear production, with marked excess redness and swelling of the conjunctiva. Corneal injury may occur.
Medical Conditions Generally Aggravated by Exposure
Skin contact may aggravate an existing dermititis
Section VII 鈥? First Aid Measures
1. Inhalation- if large concentrations are inhaled, immediately move to fresh air. Keep person calm. If not breathing give artificial respiration. If labored
breathing give oxygen.
2. Eyes- Immediately flush with large amounts of water for 15 minutes. Do not remove contact lenses. Seek immediated medical attention.
3. Skin- remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse. Wash affected areas of skin with soap and water. Consult physician with irritation
persists.
4. Swallowed- call a physician or poison control center immediately. Do not induce vomiting unless directed by medical personnel. Vomiting may
cause aspiration pneumonia hazard. Never induce vomiting or give anything to a person unconscious person. Seek medical attention.
Section VIII 鈥? Preventitive Measures
Respiratory Protection (Specify Type)- not required, avoid breathing spray
Ventilation Local Exhaust- not required Special
Mechanical (General)- not required Other
Protective Gloves- not required, avoid contact with skin Eye Protection- safety glasses recommended when installing to avoid
possible contact with eyes
Other Protective Clothing or Equipment
Work/Hygienic Practices- follow label instructions.
Section IX 鈥? Special Precautions / Spill Leak Procedures
Steps to Be Taken in Case Material is Released or Spilled
Waste Disposal Method- do not reuse empty container. May be recycled where (steel) aerosol can recycling is available. Any remaining or coleected
liquid should be disposed in a safe manner at an approved facility in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Empty cans may contain
residue. Avoid exposure to heat, flame, sparks, and sources of ignition.
