EMERGENCY OVERVIEW

PHYSICAL APPEARENCE: Black textured plastic pellets.

IMMEDIATE CONCERNS: This product contains carbon black, which have been identified
as respiratory tract irritant. The carbon black has been identified as group 2B possible
carcinogen by IARC. Calcium carbonate may contain trace amounts of crystalline silica
(0.1%)(CAS # 14808-60-7) which has been found by IARC 鈥渓imited evidence of
carcinogenetic of crystalline silica to human鈥?. However, during the transport, manipulation,
process and handling parts made from this material, users are not expected to come in direct
contact with carbon black or calcium carbonate because the carbon black and calcium
carbonate are fully encapsulated in a mass of high molecular weight polymer.
This product as shipped is not classified as combustible dust; however, a combustible
concentration of dust may occur if fines are suspended in air. Avoid contact with strong
reducing agents. During the process of these materials, at the temperatures above their
melting point, fumes may be produced , which contain carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide,
trace levels of phenols, alkylphenols, diarylphtalate and other unidentified organic
compounds that come from possible breakdown of the material. Adequate room and process
equipment ventilation should be provided. Spilled material may present slipping hazard.

POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS

EYES: may cause eye irritation.

SKIN: Prolonged or repeated contact may cause skin irritation. Exposure to molten resin
cause thermal burns.

INGESTION: Not applicable.

INHALATION: Dust and process vapors may be irritating to the nose, throat and respiratory
tract.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF OVEREXPOSURE

EYES: Irritation or redness.

SKIN: Irritation or redness.

MS MSDS Glass fiber reinforced, mineral toughened black PBT 鈥? Rev 1

INGESTION: Not applicable.

INHALATION: irritation of the nose, throat and respiratory tract.

ACUTE TOXICITY

May cause skin, eye and respiratory tract irritation

CARCINOGENICITY:

This product contains carbon black which has been identified as a Group B possible
carcinogen by IARC. The traces of crystalline silica in calcium carbonate were found by
IARC of limited evidence of carcinogenicity. However, no risk of direct exposure to carbon
black and crystalline silica during transportation, handling and processing of this material is
expected because the carbon black and calcium carbonate are fully encapsulated in a high
molecular weight resin.
The ACGIH gives fibrous glass dust a A5 designation meaning the substance is not
considered to be carcinogen (Threshold limit Values 鈥? 1995-1996 ACGIH booklet)
Tetrahydrofuran: NTP has conducted a program during 2 years where mice and rats
(50/sex/group) were exposed to concentration of 0,200,600 or 1800 ppm via inhalation
during 6hours/days, 5 days/week for 104 weeks. Under those conditions there was some
evidence of carcinogenic activity of tetrahydrofuran in male F344/N rats based on increased
incidences of renal tubule adenoma or carcinoma (combined) at 600and 1800 ppm. There
was no evidence of carcinogenic activity of tetrahydrofuran in female F344/N rats or males
B6CF1 mice. There was clear evidence of carcinogenic activity of tetrahydrofuran in female
B6C3F1 mice based on increased incidences of hepatocellular observed at 1800ppm

MUTAGENICITY

Not known.

REPRODUCTIVE TOXICITY

REPRODUCTIVE EFFECTS: None known

TERATOGENIC EFFECTS: None known

MEDICAL CONDITIONS AGGRAVATED: Pre exiting lung disease may be aggravated
with exposure to dust and process vapors.

ROUTE OF ENTRY: Skin, eye, and inhalation.

TARGET ORGAN STATEMENT: None known.

IRRITANCY: May cause skin, eye and respiratory tract irritation.

SENSITIZATION: None known.

WARNING CAUTION LABELS: Burn risk 鈥? Avoid contact with molten resin.
Explosion risk 鈥? Prevent accumulation of dust particles.
Slipping risk 鈥? Keep walking surface free of spilled material.
Vapor risk 鈥? Provide ventilation to avoid exposure to process vapors.

HEALTH HAZARDS: None known.

PHYSICAL HAZARDS: Spilled material may present slipping hazard. Exposure to molten
resin may cause thermal burns.

4. FIRST AID MEASURES

EYES: Flush eyes with water for 15 minutes. Get medical attention.

SKIN: Wash with soap and water. Get medical attention if irritation develops or persists. If
molten resin comes in contact with skin, cool under ice water or running stream of water.
DO NOT attempt to remove the material from the skin. Removal could result in severe
tissue damage. Get medical attention.

INGESTION: If pellets are ingested get medical assistance.

INHALATION: Get out to fresh air. If breathing is difficult give oxygen .Get medical
attention. Processing fumes evolved at recommanded processing conditions may contain
trace amounts of tetrahydrofuran (typically less than 1 ppm). NTP has listed tetrahydrofuran
as a carcinogen. Extreme processing conditions or temperatures may result in higher levels.

HAZARDOUS COMBUSTION PRODUCTS: Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, ketones,
trace levels of phenols, alkylphenols, diarylcarbonate, and unidentified organic compounds.

EXPLOSION HAZARDS: Product as shipped is not defined as combustible dust. However,
a combustible concentration of dust may occur when fines are suspended in air.

FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES: Standard procedures for Class A fires.

FIRE FIGHTING EQUIPMENT: As in any fire, wear self 鈥? contained pressure demand
breathing apparatus, (MSHA/NIOSH approved or equivalent) and full protective gear).
