Explosive Limits: LEL: UEL: Autoignition Pt: NE or NA
Extinguishing Media:
Use alcohol foam, carbon dioxide, or water spray when fighting fires involving this material.
Special Fire Fighting Procedures:
Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards:
Compound is nonflammable but it will support combustion. Nitric oxide will react with air to form nitrogen dioxide
which can react explosively with organic compounds.
SECTION V - Reactivity Data
PROLI NONOate
Stability: Unstable [ X ] Stable [ ]
Conditions To Avoid - Instability:
Upon exposure to moisture from the air, PROLI NONOate will dissociate to the free acid and nitric oxide.
Incompatibility - Materials To Avoid:
PROLI NONOate has a half-life of 1.8 seconds at 37degC in phosphate buffer ate pH 7.4. The material will
decompose more rapidly as the pH decreases; it will decompose instantaneously at pH 5.0.

SECTION VI - Health Hazard Data
PROLI NONOate
Route(s) of Entry: Inhalation? Yes , Skin? Yes , Eyes? Yes , Ingestion? Yes
Other:
Health Hazards (Acute and Chronic):
Nitric oxide vapors are highly toxic and a strong irritant to the pulmonary tract. Inhalation may cause irritation to the
eyes and throat and may be fatal due to pulmonary edema. Repeated exposure may cause permanent decrements in
pulmonary function. Diethylamine may cause sever irritation of the respiratory system and cause pulmonary edema.
Eye or skin contact may cause irritation or burns. Ingestion may cause nausea and vomiting.
Carcinogenicity: NTP? No , IARC Monographs? No , OSHA Regulated? No
Carcinogenicity/Other Information:
PROLI NONOate dissociates to the free amine and nitric oxide. The nitric oxide, upon introduction to the body,
may produce N-nitroso compounds which have been found to be carcinogenic in experimental animals.
Recommended Exposure Limits:
LD 50/LC 50:
Signs and Symptoms Of Exposure:
Irritation, tightness of chest, headache, nausea, loss of strength, cyanosis, increased difficulty in breathing, irregular
respiration, lassitude.
Medical Conditions Generally Aggravated By Exposure:
Emergency and First Aid Procedures:
If inhaled and conscious, remove to fresh air supplemented with oxygen. Keep under observation for delayed
pulmonary edema. If unconscious or not breathing, remove to uncontaminated area and give CPR and supplemental
oxygen by trained personnel. Get medical attention immediately. If swallowed, wash out mouth with water provided
person is conscious. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical attention. In case of
contact with eyes, hold eyelids apart and flush eyes with plenty of water. After initial flushings, remove any contact
lenses and continue flushing for at least 15 minutes. Have eyes examined and tested by medical personnel. In case of
skin contact, immediately wash skin with soap and plenty of water. Remove contaminated clothing. Get medical
attention. Wash clothing before reuse.
