**** SECTION 3 - HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION ****

EMERGENCY OVERVIEW
Flammable. Harmful by inhalation, in contact with skin and if
swallowed. May impair fertility. May cause harm to the unborn child.

Potential Health Effects
Eye:
Contact with eyes may cause severe irritation, and possible eye
burns.
Skin:
May be harmful if absorbed through the skin. Contact with pyridine
may produce first-degree burns on short-term exposure and
second-degree burns on long exposure.
Ingestion:
May cause severe gastrointestinal tract irritation with nausea,
vomiting and possible burns. May cause liver and kidney damage. May
cause central nervous system depression, characterized by
excitement, followed by headache, dizziness, drowsiness, and nausea.
Advanced stages may cause collapse, unconsciousness, coma and
possible death due to respiratory failure. May cause blood
abnormalities.
Inhalation:
May cause irritation of the respiratory tract with burning pain in
the nose and throat, coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath and
pulmonary edema. May cause central nervous system effects including
vertigo, anxiety, depression, muscle incoordination, and emotional
instability. May cause severe irritation of the respiratory tract
with possible burns. May be harmful if inhaled.
Chronic:
Chronic exposure to organic solvents has been associated with
various neurotoxic effects including permanent brain and nervous
system damage. Chronic inhalation and ingestion may cause effects
similar to those of acute inhalation and ingestion. May cause
reproductive and fetal effects.

**** SECTION 4 - FIRST AID MEASURES ****

Eyes:
Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes,
occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid
immediately. Do NOT allow victim to rub eyes or keep eyes closed.
Skin:
Get medical aid immediately. Immediately flush skin with plenty of
water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing
and shoes. Wash clothing before reuse. Destroy contaminated shoes.
Ingestion:
Do not induce vomiting. If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4
cupfuls of milk or water. Never give anything by mouth to an
unconscious person. Get medical aid immediately.
Inhalation:
Get medical aid immediately. Remove from exposure and move to fresh
air immediately. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Do NOT use
mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. If breathing has ceased apply
artificial respiration using oxygen and a suitable mechanical device
such as a bag and a mask.

**** SECTION 5 - FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES ****

General Information:
As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in
pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full
protective gear. Vapors may form an explosive mixture with air.
Vaporizes easily at normal temperatures. Use water spray to keep
fire-exposed containers cool. Flammable liquid and vapor. Containers
may explode when heated.
Extinguishing Media:
For small fires, use dry chemical, carbon dioxide, water spray or
alcohol-resistant foam. Use water spray to cool fire-exposed
containers. Cool containers with flooding quantities of water until
well after fire is out.

**** SECTION 6 - ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES ****

General Information: Use proper personal protective equipment as indicated
in Section 8.
Spills/Leaks:
Absorb spill with inert material (e.g. vermiculite, sand or earth),
then place in suitable container. Clean up spills immediately,
observing precautions in the Protective Equipment section. Remove all
sources of ignition. Use a spark-proof tool. A vapor suppressing foam
may be used to reduce vapors. Water spray may reduce vapor but may
not prevent ignition in closed spaces.

**** SECTION 7 - HANDLING and STORAGE ****

Handling:
Wash thoroughly after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and
wash before reuse. Use with adequate ventilation. Avoid prolonged or
repeated contact with skin. Empty containers retain product residue,
(liquid and/or vapor), and can be dangerous. Take precautionary
measures against static discharges. Do not get on skin or in eyes. Do
not ingest or inhale. Use only in a chemical fume hood. Keep away
from flames and other sources of high temperatures that may cause
material to form vapors. Do not pressurize, cut, weld, braze, solder,
drill, grind, or expose empty containers to heat, sparks or open
flames.
Storage:
Keep away from heat, sparks, and flame. Keep away from sources of
ignition. Store in a tightly closed container. Store in a cool, dry,
well-ventilated area away from incompatible substances. Keep
containers tightly closed.

engineering controls to control airborne levels below recommended
exposure limits.
