**** SECTION 3 - HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION ****

EMERGENCY OVERVIEW
Spontaneously flammable in air. Very toxic by inhalation and if
swallowed. Causes severe burns.Corrosive.

Potential Health Effects
Eye:
Causes eye burns.
Skin:
Causes skin burns. Chronic exposure may lead to anemia, digestive
tract effects, brittleness of bones, and necrosis of the jaw.
Ingestion:
May be fatal if swallowed. Causes gastrointestinal tract burns.
Inhalation:
May be fatal if inhaled. Causes severe irritation of upper
respiratory tract with coughing, burns, breathing difficulty, and
possible coma. May cause visual abnormalities.
Chronic:
Chronic exposure may lead to anemia, digestive tract effects,
brittleness of bones, and necrosis of the jaw.

**** SECTION 4 - FIRST AID MEASURES ****

Eyes:
Get medical aid immediately. Do NOT allow victim to rub eyes or keep
eyes closed. Extensive irrigation with water is required (at least 30
minutes).
Skin:
Get medical aid immediately. Immediately flush skin with plenty of
water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing
and shoes.
Ingestion:
If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water.
Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical
aid immediately.
Inhalation:
Get medical aid immediately. Remove from exposure and move to fresh
air immediately. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Do NOT use
mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. If breathing has ceased apply
artificial respiration using oxygen and a suitable mechanical device
such as a bag and a mask.
Notes to Physician:

**** SECTION 5 - FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES ****

General Information:
Material can spontaneously ignite (pyrophoric) when exposed to air
at normal or slightly elevated temperatures. Wear appropriate
protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes. Wear a
self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) to prevent contact with
thermal decomposition products. If combustion occurs in a confined
space, it will cause asphyxiation.
Extinguishing Media:
Use water only!

**** SECTION 6 - ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES ****

General Information: Use proper personal protective equipment as indicated
in Section 8.
Spills/Leaks:
Avoid generating dusty conditions. Flush down the spill with a large
amount of water. Cover with sand and place into a closed container
for disposal. Provide ventilation.

**** SECTION 7 - HANDLING and STORAGE ****

Handling:
Wash thoroughly after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and
wash before reuse. Minimize dust generation and accumulation. Avoid
contact with clothing and other combustible materials. Do not get on
skin or in eyes. Do not ingest or inhale. Use only in a chemical
fume hood.
Storage:
Store in a tightly closed container. Store in a cool, dry,
well-ventilated area away from incompatible substances.

**** SECTION 8 - EXPOSURE CONTROLS, PERSONAL PROTECTION ****

Engineering Controls:
Facilities storing or utilizing this material should be equipped
with an eyewash facility and a safety shower. Use process enclosure,
local exhaust ventilation, or other engineering controls to control
airborne levels.

contact with skin.
Respirators:
Follow the OSHA respirator regulations found in 29
CFR 1910.134 or European Standard EN 149. Use a
NIOSH/MSHA or European Standard EN 149 approved
respirator if exposure limits are exceeded or if
irritation or other symptoms are experienced.
