SECTION 5: PHYSICAL HAZARDS (REACTIVITY DATA)

Stability: Stable
Hazardous Polymerization: Will Not Occur
Conditions to Avoid: Heat, open flame, welding arcs or other high temperature
sources which may induce thermal decomposition.
Materials to Avoid: Strong acids, alkalis, oxidizing materials, possibly sodium,
potassium and magnesium.

SECTION 6: HEALTH HAZARDS

Signs and Symptoms of Exposure: Ingredients cause irritation through all routes of entry.
Repeated contact may cause dermatitis. Ingestion may
cause nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhea.
Medical Conditions Aggravated May cause more severe, temporary effects on those
by Exposure: persons who are asthmatics or suffer from emphysema.
Emergency and First Aid Procedures: Remove victim from contaminated area and remove
contaminated clothing. Provide fresh air, irrigate with
copious amounts of cool water. Obtain medical advice
if symptoms persist.

Routes of Entry:

1. Inhalation: OC is an inflammatory. Blood flowing to the affected area
causes a perception of airway restriction. Provide
fresh air.
2. Eyes: OC is an eye irritant. Tearing and redness may occur.
Only exposed subject or EMS should remove subject鈥檚
contact lenses. Irrigate with cool water at least 15
minutes or until relieved. Face subject into the wind or
a forced air source such as a fan.
3. Skin: OC is a skin irritant. Over exposure with liquid OC may
cause frostbite. Flush with cool water. Wash with mild
soap and water.
4. Ingestion: The severe burning of OC may cause nausea. Rinse
mouth with water. Ingest milk or water. Obtain
medical advice immediately.

SECTION 7: SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS AND SPILL/LEAK PROCEDURES

Precautions to be taken in handling Store in cool, dry area. Avoid direct light and heat. DO
and storage: NOT expose to temperatures over 120 degrees F.
Internal pressures may cause cylinders to rupture.
DO NOT puncture or incinerate container.
Do not take internally: If ingested, DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. Consult a
physician.
Steps to follow if material is spilled Wipe up small spills with absorbent material. With large
or released: spills, use respiratory equipment to avoid irritation and
collect absorbent materials.
If inside: Ventilate area after absorbent process,
wash area with soap and cold water.
Avoid prolonged breathing of vapors.
If outside: Stay upwind.
Waste Disposal Methods: Consult federal, state and local regulations. Evacuate
contents in a safe area and dispose of container.
3

SECTION 8: SPECIAL PROTECTION INFORMATION/CONTROL MEASURES

Respiratory Protection: Not required under normal conditions of use.
Ventilation: Yes
Protective Gloves: Suggested (not required)
Eye Protection: Yes. Exposure without protection in training environment
is acceptable.
Other Protective Clothing or Equipment: Not required
Work/Hygienic Practices: Normal
Storage: Store in cool, dry area away from sources of ignition.
When storing large quantities, store in building designed
and protected against fire.
DO NOT STORE IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT
OR ABOVE 120掳 F

SECTION 9: PROPELLANT

HEAT uses Dymel 134a, a non-flammable propellant. In addition, 134a is not a VOC (Volatile
Organic Compound), has an ozone depletion potential (ODP) of 0, and its global warming potential
is negligible.
