GlobalMSDSTM Data Wizard � for use with Compiler

Frequently technical, regulatory and product/customer related data is held in separate, unlinked

databases within a company. More often than not data has to be manually transferred between

systems or expensive linking software has to be designed. The GlobalMSDSTM Data Wizard

provides the compiler with a unique, quick and easy means of accessing this data when creating

MSDSs and other product literature. Quite simply the Data Wizard provides the compiler with a

number of ways of importing external data into the Compiler software, the means to store, edit and

sort this data, and the means to create tailor made “Look-up tables� from which data can be

dragged and dropped directly into the document.



Importing data from external sources using the Data Wizard



There are several easy ways of internalising data;

 � Within Notepad the user can open any .txt document,

    highlight sections of text and cut and paste these directly

    into the Compiler software.

 � When using MS Word the user gains all the functionality of

    Microsoft Word and again can cut and paste text directly into

    the Compiler software.

 � CSV file import (CSV stands

    for “Comma Separated

    Variables�) provides a unique

    and intuitive means to import

    any amount of external data

    from files of delimited data. So

    long as you can extract a

    delimited file from your external

    database, CSV file import will be

    able to automatically import this

    for use within the Compiler

    software.

 � Information from any open

    application such as your web

    browser can be similarly cut and

    paste into the software in

    familiar Windows style.





Storing data for ease of access.

Imported data is stored in a file structure of your choice, allowing data from different sources to be

managed by you either independently or combined.



Creating “Look-up tables� and compiling.

By choosing the types of external data you wish to look at and which set of stored data you wish to

access, the compiler can instantly create tables from which entries can be searched and then data

dragged and dropped directly into a document.
