4. First Aid Measures;
Description of necessary In case of poisoning by any exposure route contact the National
first aid measures: Poisons and Hazardous Chemicals Information Centre, PO Box 913,
Dunedin. Phone 0800 764 766, 0800 POISON.
Workplace facilities: Ensure eye wash station and safety shower are available in the
workplace.
Symptoms: The low concentration of active ingredient in this product makes
poisoning unlikely. Severe cyfluthrin intoxication can produce
respiratory effects including chest tightness, airway hyperreaction,
and pulmonary oedema. Possible circulatory effects include
tachycardia, hypotension, and palpitations. Gastrointestinal
symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain,
and salivation. Potential Central Nervous System effects are
dizziness, blurred vision, headache, listlessness, anorexia,
somnolence/coma, seizures/convulsions, tremor, ataxia, and muscle
fasciculations.
Eye: Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes,
holding eye open.
Skin: Wash affected areas with soap and water. Seek medical advice if
irritation persists.
Inhaled: If inhaled, remove to fresh air and keep at rest. If concerned, seek
medical advice.
Ingestion: Wash out mouth with water. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical
advice.
Treatment: Treat large intakes with gastric lavage, and charcoal administration.
Use endotracheal intubation, and artificial respiration (if necessary).
As no antidote is known, treatment is symptomatic. Monitor
respiratory and cardiac functions. Observe electrocardiograph, and
check for pulmonary oedema in event of inhalation. Anticonvulsant
therapy with diazepam i.v. Contraindication 鈥? adrenergic compounds
(except CRP), atropine. DO NOT confuse with anticholinesterase
compounds. For eyes, instil local anaesthetic drops e.g. 1%

Recommended Protective Fire fighters should wear full protective clothing and self-contained
clothing: breathing apparatus. Do not release contaminated water into the
environment. Keep intact containers cool by spraying with water.
Keep people away and upwind.

Environmental Precautions: Prevent spillage from entering drains, sewers or watercourses. If
contamination of drains, streams, watercourses, etc. is unavoidable,
warn the local water authority.
Procedure for spill: Keep all bystanders away.
Wear goggles, half face-piece respirator with combined dust and
vapour cartridge, full length clothing and PVC gloves.
