CRYSTALS, WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR. The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of
its vapour, through the skin and by ingestion.
Chemical dangers
Inhalation risk
The substance decomposes on burning producing toxic fumes
of nitrogen oxides. The solution in water is a weak base. Reacts A harmful contamination of the air will be reached rather slowly
with acids, acid anhydrides, acid chlorides, chloroformates and on evaporation of this substance at 20掳C; on spraying or
strong oxidants. dispersing, however, much faster.
Occupational exposure limits Effects of short-term exposure
TLV: 0.1 ppm (as TWA) (A4) (skin) (ACGIH 1998). The aerosol irritates the eyes. The substance may cause
effects on the kidneys and blood, resulting in kidney impairment
and formation of methaemoglobin. The effects may be delayed.
