**** SECTION 3 - HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION ****

EMERGENCY OVERVIEW
Reacts violently with water. Toxic if swallowed. Causes
burns.Water-reactive.Air sensitive.

Potential Health Effects
Eye:
Causes severe eye burns. May result in corneal injury.
Lachrymator (substance which increases the flow of tears).
Skin:
Contact with liquid is corrosive and causes severe burns and
ulceration.
Ingestion:
May be fatal if swallowed. May cause irritation of the digestive
tract and possible burns.
Inhalation:
Irritation may lead to chemical pneumonitis and pulmonary edema. May
cause burns to the respiratory tract.

**** SECTION 4 - FIRST AID MEASURES ****

Eyes:
Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes,
occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid
immediately. Do NOT allow victim to rub eyes or keep eyes closed.
Skin:
Get medical aid immediately. Immediately flush skin with plenty of
water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing
and shoes.
Ingestion:
Do not induce vomiting. If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4
cupfuls of milk or water. Never give anything by mouth to an
unconscious person. Get medical aid immediately.
Inhalation:
Get medical aid immediately. Remove from exposure and move to fresh
air immediately. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Do NOT use
mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. If breathing has ceased apply
artificial respiration using oxygen and a suitable mechanical device
such as a bag and a mask.

**** SECTION 5 - FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES ****

General Information:
As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in
pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full
protective gear. Vapors can travel to a source of ignition and flash
back. During a fire, irritating and highly toxic gases may be
generated by thermal decomposition or combustion. Use water spray to
keep fire-exposed containers cool. Contact with metals may evolve
flammable hydrogen gas. Vapors may form an explosive mixture with
air. Containers may explode when heated or if contaminated with
water. Substance will react with water (some violently) releasing
flammable, toxic, or corrosive gases and runoff.
Extinguishing Media:
Do NOT use water directly on fire. Use carbon dioxide or dry
chemical. Do NOT get water inside containers.

**** SECTION 6 - ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES ****

General Information: Use proper personal protective equipment as indicated
in Section 8.
Spills/Leaks:
Absorb spill with inert material (e.g. vermiculite, sand or earth),
then place in suitable container. Neutralize spill with sodium
bicarbonate. Use water spray to disperse the gas/vapor. Remove all
sources of ignition. Provide ventilation. Do not get water on
spilled substances or inside containers.

Handling:
Wash thoroughly after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and
wash before reuse. Use with adequate ventilation. Do not allow water
to get into the container because of violent reaction. Do not get in
eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Keep container tightly closed. Do not
ingest or inhale.
Storage:
Keep container closed when not in use. Store in a tightly closed
container. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from
incompatible substances. Keep away from water.
