May cause eye and skin irritation. Maybe harmful if inhaled, swallowed, or absorbed through skin.
No explosive or fire hazards.

Canada鈥檚 WHMIS regulations and the EU Directives on the classification and labelling of dangerous substances and preparation.
This product does contain animal source material and should be handled following routine biosafety precautions.

4. First-Aid Measures:
In case of eye contact: Flush eyes with large amounts of water. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.
In case of skin contact: Immediately wash skin with soap and large amounts of water. Seek medical attention if irritation or other
symptoms develop.
In case of ingestion: If the person is conscious, immediately flush mouth with water. Then, have person drink one small glass of
water. Get immediate medical attention.
In case of inhalation: Remove person to fresh air. If person is not breathing, give artificial respiration. If person鈥檚 breathing is
difficult, give oxygen. Seek medical attention.

5. Fire-Fighting Measures:
Extinguishing media: Use any media that is appropriate for the surrounding fire.
Extinguishing media NOT to use: None known.
Special fire-fighting equipment: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and
eyes.
Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: None
Hazardous Combustion Products: Emits toxic fumes and dense black smoke under fire conditions.

6. Accidental Release Measure:
Personal precautions: Wear protective equipment including rubber boots and heavy rubber gloves.
Environmental precautions: Do not wash down drains. If this occurs, flush drains with large amount of water.
Cleaning method: Absorb with inert absorbent material. Collect and place in an appropriate waste disposal container. Wash
residual traces with water.

7. Handling and Storage:
Handling: Wear laboratory coat, safety glasses and chemically resistant gloves. Use good laboratory practices. Avoid contact with
eyes, skin and clothing. Wash hands thoroughly after handling.

Storage: Keep tightly closed. Store in a cool dry place. Store at 2-8 C. Do not freeze.

10. Stability and Reactivity:
Conditions to avoid: Heat, Light
Materials to avoid: Avoid contact with strong oxidizing agents, metals, acids, and acid chlorides.
Hazardous decomposition products: Nitrogen oxides and dense black smoke with carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons. Sodium
azide can react with heavy metals to form explosive azides. Reaction with acids may generate toxic gas

11. Toxicological Information:
Acute Effects of Overexposure:
Inhalation: Inhalation of mists may cause respiratory irritation and possible systemic effects similar to ingestion.
Ingestion: Contains sodium azide. Ingestion of sodium azide has been reported to cause shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting,
restlessness, diarrhea, lowering of blood pressure (hypotension), and collapse. Classified as highly toxic in animals.
Skin Contact: May cause mild irritation. Prolonged and extensive skin contact may result in absorption with systemic symptoms
similar to ingestion.
Eye Contact: May cause irritation.

Chronic Effects of Overexposure: Sodium azide is suspected of altering genetic material.
Carcinogen or Suspected Carcinogen: None of the components are listed as a carcinogen or suspected carcinogen.
Medical Conditions Aggravated by Exposure: None currently known.

Acute Toxicity Values: Sodium Azide: LD50 oral rat: 27 mg/kg; LD50 dermal rabbit: 20 mg/kg
To the best of our knowledge, the toxicological properties have not been thoroughly investigated.
