Section V 鈥? Health Hazards and First Aid
ACUTE EFFECTS: Ingestion of 5鈥?10 gm of crystalline sodium borate by young children can
cause severe vomiting, diarrhea, shock, and death. Solution will irritate skin,
eyes, and mucous membranes.
CHRONIC EFFECTS: Not established
EYE CONTACT: Flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes; assure adequate flushing

by separating eyelids with fingers. Get medical attention.
SKIN CONTACT: Rinse with 1% acetic acid to neutralize, followed by water.
INHALATION: Not applicable
INGESTION: Give water freely and/or 1% acetic acid, followed by milk. Get medical
attention.

Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations.
