HEALTH HAZARD:  ACUTE; May cause slight irritation of eyes and skin. May cause rash or irritation 

particularly with moist skin. Potassium Chloride is an eye irritant. Redness, possible abrasion may occur. 

High concentration of dust may cause nasal or lung irritation.  Large, ingested quantities may produce 

gastrointestinal irritation and vomiting.

MEDICAL CONDITIONS GENERALLY AGGRAVATED BY EXPOSURE: Ingestion can cause 

stomach discomfort.

EMERGENCY FIRST AID PROCEDURES: 

1) INHALATION     Remove source(s) of contamination, and move victim to fresh air. Give 

                  Oxygen if needed. Commence artificial respiration if victim is not breathing. 

                  If victim has no pulse, begin CPR. Get medical attention immediately. 



2) EYE CONTAMINATION                Immediately flush the contaminated eye(s) with lukewarm water for 20 

                                    minutes, holding the eyelids open.  Obtain medical attention 

                                    immediately if irritation persists. 



3) SKIN                             Remove all contaminated clothing and flush affected body area with 

                                    large amounts of warm water for 15­20 minutes.  Wash thoroughly 

                                    with soap and water.  If irritation persists, seek medical attention. 



4) INGESTION                        Rinse mouth immediately.  Have victim drink 10 ounces of water to 

                                    dilute the material in the stomach. DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING; 

                                    aspiration into the lungs can cause serious damage.  Never give victim 

                                    anything by mouth (orally) if victim is losing consciousness or 

                                    convulsing.  OBTAIN IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION.

PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN IN HANDLING AND STORAGE:  Store in a cool, dry location.  Do not 

                         store near food or feed.  Keep out of reach of children and pets. 



STEPS TO BE TAKEN IN CASE MATERIAL IS RELEASED OR SPILLED: Major spills should be 

                          diked or dammed to prevent material travel; cover storm drains or 

                          prevent access to waterways.  Sweep, scoop, or pick up spilled material 

                          and containerize.  Collected waste may be transferred to a closed 

                          container and sent to an approved waste disposal facility. 



WASTE DISPOSAL METHOD: Disposal must be made in accordance with federal, state and local 

                         regulations for non­toxic, non­hazardous waste.  Consult Federal, State, 

                         and local regulations for more information. 







   SECTION 9­SPECIAL PROTECTION & CONTROL MEASURES 



RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: Approved (NIOSH) dust respirator. 

VENTILATION: Local exhaust ventilation should be used to control worker exposer to below 

                              recommended Permissible Levels (PEL). 

PROTECTIVE GLOVES: Normal work or rubber gloves. 

EYE PROTECTION: Safety glasses or goggles. 

OTHER PROTECTIVE CLOTHING / EQUIPMENT: Long sleeve shirt, appropriate work pants (no

                              regarding fertilizer application and clothing requirements for additional

                              clothing, boots, and gloves dry, washed and clean.
