Other Information The Australian Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI) for molinate for a human is 0.002
mg/kg/day, set for the public for daily, lifetime exposure. This is based on
the NOEL of 0.2 mg/kg/day, the level determined to show no effects during long
term exposure for the most sensitive indicators and the most sensitive
species. (Ref: Comm. Dept. of Health and Ageing, 'ADI List', TGA, December
2004).

Other Toxicological information:
Laboratory testing in animals has shown that exposure to molinate, followed by
the ingestion of alcohol causes adverse effects, including a reduction in
blood pressure, rapid heart beat and flushing of the skin. Consumption of
alcohol during and after using this product should be avoided.
Short-term repeated exposure in rats to molinate (4-45 mg/kg bw/day) resulted
in decreased fertility in male rats. This effect was reversible upon cessation
of exposure.
Doses of 60-180 mg/kg bw/day of molinate were fed to rats and dogs for 90
days. Effects were noted in the kidneys, testes and ovaries. Molinate was
overall negative in a battery of genotoxicity assays.
In a two-year feeding study, male rats receiving 300ppm of molinate per day,
showed an increased incidence of kidney tumours. This effect was not seen in
female rats or in male or female mice at any dose level.
A developmental study in mice revealed no teratogenic effects.
Embryo/foetotoxic effects were seen only in the presence of maternal toxicity.
12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION
Known Harmful Molinate products do not appear to pose any threat to fish or other aquatic
organisms other than in very high concentrations.
Effects on the
Environment
Other Precautions Do not spray on vegetation where honeybees are foraging.
Do not spray in high winds.
Do not contaminate dams, waterways or sewers with this product.
Environ. Protection Spray drift can cause damage, read the label for more information.
Persistence / Average field half life of molinate is 8 - 25 days.
Degradability
Acute Toxicity - Fish Not toxic to fish.
The following is data for the active ingredient, molinate.
LC50 (96 hr) for rainbow trout is 13 mg/l.
LC50 (96 hr) for bluegill sunfish is 29 mg/l.
13. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS
Product Disposal On site disposal of the concentrated product is not acceptable.
Ideally, the product should be used for its intended purpose. If there is a
need to dispose of the product, approach local authorities who hold periodic
collections of unwanted chemicals (ChemCollect).
Container Disposal Do not use this container for any other purpose.
Triple rinse containers, add rinsate to the spray tank, then offer the
container for recycling/reconditioning, or puncture top, sides and bottom and
dispose of in landfill in accordance with local regulations.
drumMUSTER is the national program for the collection and recycling of empty,
cleaned, non returnable crop production and on-farm animal health chemical
containers. If the label on your container carries the drumMuster symbol,
triple rinse the container, ring your local Council, and offer the container
for collection in the program.
If no landfill is available, bury the containers below 500mm in a disposal pit
specifically marked and set up for this purpose clear of waterways, desirable
