Composition Allophycocyanin (APC) derivatized with SMCC (succinimidyl 4-[N-
maleimidomethyl]-cyclohexane-1-carboxylate) in a buffered solution
containing pentachlorophenol (PCP) as an antimicrobial preservative.

Hazard identification Possibly irritating in case of eye contact, ingestion or inhalation. M ay cau se
allergic reaction upon repeated exposure. Pentachlorophenol (PCP; CAS#
87-86-5) is present at a very lo w conce ntration (0.00 01% ) as a preservative.
Accord ing to the O SHA Haza rd Com munications Stand ard (CFR 1910 .1200 ),
if a mixture contains less than 1 % of a hazardous che mic al or 0.1% of a
carcin ogen, the m ixture shall not be consid ered haza rdous. Howe ver,
precautions for handling potentially dangerous reagents should be
practiced w hen using this product. Pentachloro phe nol is highly toxic. It is
also a possible carcinogen. Chronic exposure may cause reproductive
disorder(s) ba sed on re sults with laboratory anim als.
First aid measures In ca se of con tact:
Eyes - irrigate with plenty of water. Call a physician.
Skin - wash with soap and water. Call a physician.
Inhalation - move to a we ll ve ntilated area an d cle ar no se and th roat.
Ingestion - drink plenty of water, and seek medical attention.
