**** SECTION 3 - HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION ****

EMERGENCY OVERVIEW
Highly flammable. Reacts violently with water. Causes severe
burns.Moisture sensitive.Hygroscopic (absorbs moisture from the air).

Potential Health Effects
Eye:
Causes eye burns.
Skin:
Causes skin burns.
Ingestion:
Causes gastrointestinal tract burns.
Inhalation:
Causes chemical burns to the respiratory tract. Inhalation may be
fatal as a result of spasm, inflammation, edema of the larynx and
bronchi, chemical pneumonitis and pulmonary edema. May cause burning
sensation, coughing, wheezing, laryngitis, shortness of breath,
headache, nausea, and vomiting.
Chronic:
Not available.

**** SECTION 4 - FIRST AID MEASURES ****

Eyes:
Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes,
occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid
immediately. Do NOT allow victim to rub eyes or keep eyes closed.
Skin:
Get medical aid immediately. If water-reactive products are embedded
in the skin, no water should be applied. The embedded products
should be covered with a light oil.
Ingestion:
Do NOT induce vomiting and seek IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ADVICE. Give milk
of magnesia.
Inhalation:
Get medical aid immediately. Remove from exposure and move to fresh
air immediately. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If
breathing is difficult, give oxygen.
Notes to Physician:
Treat symptomatically and supportively.

**** SECTION 5 - FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES ****

General Information:
As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in
pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full
protective gear. Water Reactive. Material will react with water and
may release a flammable and/or toxic gas. This material in
sufficient quantity and reduced particle size is capable of creating
a dust explosion. Flammable solid.
Extinguishing Media:
Do NOT use halogenated agents. Do NOT use water, carbon dioxide, or
foam. Use dry sand, dry chemical, soda ash or lime.

**** SECTION 6 - ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES ****

General Information: Use proper personal protective equipment as indicated
in Section 8.
Spills/Leaks:
Do not flush into a sewer. Avoid generating dusty conditions. Remove
all sources of ignition. Isolate area and deny entry. Provide
ventilation. With a clean shovel, carefully pick up the material and
place it into a clean dry container and cover for disposal.

**** SECTION 7 - HANDLING and STORAGE ****

Handling:
Use only in a well-ventilated area. Minimize dust generation and
accumulation. Do not breathe dust, vapor, mist, or gas. Do not get in
eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Take precautionary measures against
static discharges. Use only in a chemical fume hood.
Storage:
Keep away from heat, sparks, and flame. Store in a cool, dry place.
Store in a tightly closed container. Keep away from water. Water
free area. Storage under a nitrogen blanket has been recommended.

**** SECTION 8 - EXPOSURE CONTROLS, PERSONAL PROTECTION ****

Engineering Controls:
Facilities storing or utilizing this material should be equipped
with an eyewash facility and a safety shower. Use adequate
ventilation to keep airborne concentrations low.
