ACUTE EFFECTS OF OVER EXPOSURE

Swallowing: May be harmful if ingested. Do not take
internally. Acute Oral LD50 (rat) > 5,000
mg/kg.
Skin Absorption: Harmful if absorbed through skin. Avoid
contact with skin and clothing. Acute Dermal
LD50 (rat) > 2,000 mg/kg.
Inhalation: Avoid breathing dust. Acute Inhalation LC50
(rat) > 5.2 mg/L/4 hours.
Skin contact: Avoid contact with skin and clothing.
Eye Contact: Causes eye irritation. Do not get in eyes.
Chronic Effects: Fipronil caused liver, kidney or thyroid
effects and/or neurobehavioral effects
(tremors) in chronic toxic studies in rats and
dogs. Fipronil did not induce any microscopic
lesions in the neural tissues.

EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES

Swallowing: Call a poison control center or doctor
immediately for treatment advice. Sip a glass
of water if able to swallow. Do not induce
vomiting unless directed to do so by a
physician or poison control center.
Skin: Remove contaminated clothing. Rinse immediately
with water for at least 15 minutes. Call a
poison control center or doctor for treatment
advice.
Inhalation: Move to fresh air. If not breathing, call 911
then give artificial respiration, preferably
mouth-to-mouth if possible. Call a poison
control center or doctor for further treatment
advice.
Eyes: Hold eye open and rinse slowly and gently with
water for 15-20 minutes. Remove contact lenses,

Special precaution: Keep out of reach of children. Do not store
with food, feed or other material to be used or
consumed by humans or animals. Do not
contaminate water supplies, lakes, streams or
ponds. Store in a cool, dry place and in such a
manner as to prevent cross contamination.
Other precaution: Carcinogen Note: The EPA has classified
fipronil as a Category C carcinogen based on
thyroid tumors in rats only. These tumors are
produced by a mechanism which is not relevant
to human cancer. Fipronil did not produce an
increase in tumor incidence in mice. This
material is not listed by ACGIH, NTP, IARC or
OSHA as a carcinogen.
