DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Read these entire DIRECTIONS FOR USE AND GENERAL INFORMATION before using MERIT SOLUPAK
Insecticide.

RECOMMENDED APPLICATION:
CROP DOSAGE MERIT SOLUPAK
For use on deciduous trees, including, but not 45 grams (1 packet) for every 60 centimeters of
limited to: cumulative trunk diameter at breast height (DBH).
Acer - Maple
Aesculus - Chestnut Note:
Salix - Willow Measure the DBH for each tree. Add each DBH to
Ulmus - Elm get cumulative trunk diameter for the treatment
Betula - Birch area. Divide the cumulative trunk diameter by 60
Platanus - Sycamore, London Plane to determine the number of Merit Solupak
Albizia - Silk Tree, Mimosa Insecticide packets required.
Celtis - Hackberry
Populus - Poplar
Sorbus - Mountain Ash

DO NOT USE ON TREES PRODUCING EDIBLE
PRODUCTS
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS: Apply Merit Solupak Insecticide in the spring (when adults emerge from
trees), or fall (when larvae emerge and feed in trees). In the spring, apply immediately after flowering. In
the fall, do not apply once leaves have changed color. Maximum of one application per year. Do not
apply the product to frozen or saturated soils.

Do not apply by soil drench in residential areas, or on public lands used for recreational purposes (e.g.,
parks, playing fields, woodlots).

Soil injection is the recommended method for trees with ground cover (e.g., mulch, plastic, turf with
heavy thatch); and for trees surrounded by pavement.

Soil Injection:
Mix the required packages of Merit Solupak Insecticide in sufficient water (45 g in a minimum of 24 L of
water, not to exceed 48 L of water). Use the higher water volume for drier soil. Apply the solution in
holes no bigger than 5 cm in diameter and 12-20 cm deep. Do not use less than 4 holes per tree. Inject
an equal amount of the solution in each hole. Maintain a low pressure and use sufficient solution for
distribution of the liquid into the treatment zone. For optimum control, keep the treated area moist for 7-
10 days. Use basal system if a fruit tree is within 10 meters of a target tree.

GRID SYSTEM: Holes should be evenly spaced on approximately 0.75 m centers, in a grid pattern,
extending to the drip line of the tree.

CIRCLE SYSTEM: Holes should be evenly spaced on concentric circles approximately 0.75 m apart (use
more than one circle depending on the size of the tree) beneath the drip line of the tree and extending in
from that line.

BASAL SYSTEM: Holes should be spaced evenly around the base of the tree trunk no more than 15 to
30 cm out from the base. Use Basal system if a fruit tree is within 10 meters of target tree.
Soil Drench: Pre-irrigate area if soil conditions are dry. Mix the required packages of Merit Solupak
Insecticide in sufficient water (1 pack in no less than 41 L of water per 100 m2). Apply uniformly as a
drench around the base of the tree, directed to the root zone. Remove plastic or any other barrier that
will stop solution from reaching the root zone. Do not apply product to frozen or saturated soils.

Application Equipment for Use on Trees
Apply MERIT SOLUPAK Insecticide in sufficient water to provide adequate distribution in the treated area.
The use of accurately calibrated equipment normally used for the application of tree insecticides is required.
Check calibration periodically to ensure the equipment is working properly.

MIXING: The enclosed packets are water soluble and will dissolve completely in water. After opening outer
bag, drop the required number of unopened inner packets into the spray tank as directed. Do not
excessively handle water soluble packets or expose to moisture since this may cause breakage. Do not
allow packets to become wet prior to mixing spray solution. Do not handle with wet hands. Reseal outer bag
to protect remaining packets.

While recirculating and with the agitator running, add the required number of water soluble packets, as
determined under ARecommended Application@, to the spray tank as you continue filling the tank to the
desired level of water. Operate the agitator while mixing. Depending on the water temperature and the
degree of agitation, the packets should be completely dissolved within a few minutes. Cooler water
temperatures increase the time needed for the inner packets to dissolve completely.

Do not apply through any irrigation system.
Do not apply by aerial application.
Do not apply when wind speeds are greater than 12 鈥?15 km per hour at site of application.

PRECAUTIONS
KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN
Harmful if swallowed, inhaled, or absorbed through skin. Causes eye irritation. Avoid contact with skin,
eyes, or clothing. Wear long-sleeved shirt, long pants, and chemical-resistant gloves when handling. Avoid
breathing dust or vapor. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling. Remove contaminated
clothing and wash before reuse. Keep children or pets off treated area until spray is dry.

RESTRICTIONS
Do not graze treated areas or use clippings from treated areas for feed or forage.
Do not plant any food crop within one year of a treatment.

ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS
Do not apply close to environmentally sensitive areas such as lakes, streams, rivers or other aquatic
systems. Do not apply to terrains where there is a potential for surface run-off to enter aquatic systems.

Do not mix, load or clean equipment within 30 meters of wellheads or aquatic systems. Do not contaminate
water when disposing of equipment washwaters.

This product is highly toxic to bees exposed to direct treatment or residues on blooming crops or weeds.

This product is highly toxic to aquatic invertebrates.
Apply this product only in accordance with this label.

vomiting does not occur within 20 minutes, repeat the dose once. Do not induce vomiting or give anything by
mouth to an unconscious person. If on skin: Wash thoroughly with soap and water. Get medical attention if
irritation occurs. If in eyes: Hold eyelids open and flush with plenty of water. Get medical attention if irritation
occurs.

Take container, label or product name and Pest Control Product Registration Number with you when seeking
medical attention.
