11 TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION
Toluene
Chronic ingestion of toluene has been shown to cause altered immune functions in laboratory animals. Chronic inhalation of
toluene has been shown to cause hearing loss in laboratory animals. Toluene has been shown to be a moderate skin irritant
in laboratory animals. Acute inhalation of toluene has been shown to cause CNS and neurobehavioral effects in humans.
Chronic inhalation of toluene has been shown to cause neurotoxic effects and color vision loss in humans. Toluene is
potentiated by acetylsalicylic acid and n-hexane to produce irreversible auditory damage in laboratory animals.
