EYE EFFECTS:
Corrosive and irritating to the eyes. Mild concentrations can cause conjunctivitis. Contact with the liquid or
high concentrations of vapor causes painful burns and ulcerations. Burns to the eyes may result in ulcerations of
the conjunctivae and cornea and may cause destruction of all ocular tissue.

SKIN EFFECTS:
Corrosive and irritating to the skin and all living tissue. Toxic level exposure to dermal tissue causes severe
burns. Severe destruction of tissue may result from prolonged exposure.

INGESTION EFFECTS:
Dimethylamine is a poison by ingestion. No other specific information provided.

INHALATION EFFECTS:
Corrosive and irritating to the upper and lower respiratory tract. High level concentrations are extremely
destructive to the airway and could result in chemical pneumonitis and pulmonary edema. Inhalation may also
cause shortness of breath, headache, nausea and vomiting. Severe destruction of tissues will result from
prolonged exposure.

Inhalation may have fatal consequences as a result of spasm, inflammation, and edema of the larynx and bronchi.

4. First Aid Measures

EYES:
PERSONS WITH POTENTIAL EXPOSURE SHOULD NOT WEAR CONTACT LENSES. Flush
contaminated eyes with copious quantities of water. Part eyelids to assure complete flushing. Continue for a
minimum of 15 minutes. Seek immediate medical attention.

MSDS: G-29
Revised: 6/7/96 Page 2 of 7
PRODUCT NAME: DIMETHYLAMINE

SKIN:
Remove contaminated clothing as rapidly as possible. Flush affected area with copious quantities of water.
Seek immediate medical attention. A physician should be informed that the "burn" was caused by an alkaline
solution. A weak (1-2%) acetic acid solution or vinegar may be used to counteract.

INGESTION:
No information given. Seek immediate medical attention.

INHALATION:
PROMPT MEDICAL ATTENTION IS MANDATORY IN ALL CASES OF OVEREXPOSURE. RESCUE
ERSONNEL SHOULD BE EQUIPPED WITH SELF-CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUS. Victims
should be assisted to an uncontaminated area and inhale fresh air. Quick removal from the contaminated area is
most important. Unconscious persons should be moved to an uncontaminated area, and if breathing has stopped,
administer artificial resuscitation and supplemental oxygen. Further treatment should be symptomatic and
supportive.

5. Fire Fighting Measures

Closed Cup
LEL(%): 2.8 UEL(%): 14.4
Hazardous combustion products: None
Sensitivity to mechanical shock: Not Available
Sensitivity to static discharge: Not Available

FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS:

Dimethylamine is heavier than air and may travel a considerable distance to a source of ignition. Should flame
be extinguished and flow of gas continue, increase ventilation to prevent flammable mixture formation in low
areas or pockets.

EXTINGUISHING MEDIA:
Water, carbon dioxide, dry chemical.

FIRE FIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS:
Fire fighters should wear self-contained breathing apparatus and butyl rubber boots. If possible, stop the flow of
dimethylamine. Use water spray to cool surrounding containers. If water is used as extinguishing media,
recognize that aqueous solutions of dimethylamine are also flammable.

6. Accidental Release Measures

Evacuate all personnel from affected area. Use appropriate protective equipment. If leak is in user鈥檚 equipment,
be certain to purge piping with inert gas prior to attempting repairs. If leak is in container or container valve,
contact the appropriate emergency telephone number listed in Section 1 or call your closest BOC location.

7. Handling and Storage

Electrical classification:
Group B, Class 1.

Carbon steel, stainless steel and Monel 庐 are acceptable for use with Dimethylamine. Most other metals are not
compatible - particularly silver, copper and its alloys, tin, nickel, and zInc. and its alloys. Lead is the preferred
gasket material. Natural rubber, Buna S 庐, Buna N 庐 and cellulose acetate are not acceptable plastics or
elastomers to use.

Earth ground and bond all lines and equipment associated with the dimethylamine system. Electrical equipment
should be non-sparking or explosion proof.

Use only in well-ventilated areas. Valve protection caps must remain in place unless container is secured with
valve outlet piped to use point. Do not drag, slide or roll cylinders. Use a suitable hand truck for cylinder
movement. Use a pressure reducing regulator when connecting cylinder to lower pressure (<100 psig) piping or
systems. Do not heat cylinder by any means to increase rate of product from the cylinder. Use a check valve or
trap in the discharge line to prevent hazardous back flow into cylinder.

Protect cylinders from physical damage. Store in cool, dry, well-ventilated areas of non-combustible
construction away from heavily trafficked areas and emergency exits. Do not allow the temperature where
cylinders are stored to exceed 130oF (54oC). Cylinders should be stored upright and firmly secured to prevent
falling or being knocked over. Full & empty cylinders should be segregated. Use a "first in-first out" inventory
system to prevent full cylinders from being stored for excessive periods of time. Post "NO SMOKING OR
OPEN FLAMES" signs in the storage area or use area. There should be no sources of ignition in the storage or
use area.

For additional storage recommendations, consult Compressed Gas Association鈥檚 Pamphlet P-1.

Never carry a compressed gas cylinder or a container of a gas in cryogenic liquid form in an enclosed space such
as a car trunk, van or station wagon. A leak can result in a fire, explosion, asphyxiation or a toxic exposure.

health (IDLH) atmospheres. Consult manufacturers instructions before use. Level C respiratory protection with
full face full-face mask and escape bottle or a self-contained breathing apparatus should be available for
emergency use. Operate this equipment in the positive pressure demand mode.
