Chemical Safety
0426 CYCLOHEXYL ACETATE

IMPORTANT DATA
Physical State; Appearance Routes of exposure
COLOURLESS LIQUID, WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR. The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its
vapour and by ingestion.
Chemical dangers
Inhalation risk
Reacts with strong oxidants causing fire and explosion hazard.
A harmful contamination of the air will not or will only very slowly
Occupational exposure limits be reached on evaporation of this substance at 20/C.
TLV not established.
Effects of short-term exposure
The substance irritates the eyes, the skin and the respiratory
tract. The substance may cause effects on the central nervous
system. Exposure at high level, if ingested, could cause lowering
of consciousness.

Effects of long-term or repeated exposure
The liquid defats the skin.

PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Boiling point: 177/C Relative vapour density (air = 1): 4.9
Melting point: -77/C Relative density of the vapour/air-mixture at 20/C (air = 1): 1.08
Relative density (water = 1): 0.97 Flash point: 58/C c.c.
Solubility in water: none Auto-ignition temperature: 334/C
Vapour pressure, kPa at 30/C: 0.93

ENVIRONMENTAL DATA

NOTES
Environmental effects from the substance have not been investigated adequately.
Cyclohexylacetate is more narcotic and more lethal to animals at lower concentrations than other acetates but beeing of lower volatility,
it is less hazardous from the industrial point of view.
The relation between odour and the occupational exposure limit cannot be indicated.
Card has been partly updated in October 2005. See section Emergency Response.
