Section 3 Hazard Identification
Emergency Overview: This material is a paint stripper. It is a green colored liquid with a
mild amine type odor and flash pint greater than 200掳 F.

Primary Routes of Exposure:
Skin Contact
Eye Contact
Inhalation

Potential Acute Health Effects:
Eye: This material is a severe eye irritant. Direct contact with the liquid or exposure to
vapors or mists may cause stinging, tearing, redness, swelling, and eye damage.
Skin: This material is a skin irritant. Prolonged or repeated contact may cause
redness and burning, drying and cracking of the skin and severe skin damage. Contact
may result in skin absorption but symptoms of toxicity are not anticipated by this route

alone under normal conditions of use. Persons with preexisting skin disorders may be
more susceptible to the effects of this material.
Ingestion: This material has a low degree of toxicity. Ingestion of excessive quantities
may cause gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
Inhalation: Breathing high concentrations of vapors or mists may cause irritation of the nose
and throat, headaches, nausea, giddiness, drowsiness and mental confusion. Respiratory
symptoms associated with preexisting lung disorders (e.g. asthma-like conditions) may be
aggravated by exposure to this material.
Potential Chronic Health Effects:

Signs and Symptoms: Some reports have associated repeated and prolonged
occupational overexposure to solvents with brain and nervous system damage.
(See also Sections 4, 8, and 11for related information)

Section 4 First Aid Measures
Eye contact: Wash eyes gently with water for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention.
Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash exposed areas with water and soap.
Ingestion: Get medical attention immediately.
Inhalation: Remove to fresh air immediately.

Section 5 Fire Fighting Measures
Flash Point (method): N/D (estimated greater than 200掳 F)
Extinguishing Media: Water, CO2, foam, dry chemical or water supply.
Protection of Firefighters: As in any fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure
demand mode and full protective gear.
Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: None known.

Section 6 Accidental Release Measures
Clean Up Methods: Keep unnecessary people away. Dike and contain spill with inert material
(sand, earth, etc.). Transfer liquid to containers for recovery or disposal, or absorb with
absorbent materials and place into containers for disposal. Keep spill out of sewer and open

bodies of water. Floors may be slippery; care should be exercised to avoid falls during clean up
operations.
(See also Section 8 for information on Exposure Controls and Personal Protective Equipment and Section 13 for
Disposal information.)

Section 7 Handling and Storage
Handling: Prevent eye and skin contact. Wear appropriate personal protective
equipment (PPE) when handling. Keep container closed while not in use. (See section 8
for PPE).
Storage: Store in a cool dry place away from excessive heat or open flame. Do not
store near oxidizers, strong acids or bases.

Section 8 Exposure Controls / Personal Protection
Engineering Controls: Use in well-ventilated are and ensure good cross ventilation during
use and while drying. If necessary, use mechanical local exhaust ventilation or general room
dilution ventilation to reduce vapor concentrations.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Eye Protection: Chemical splash goggles.
Skin Protection: Chemical resistant gloves.
Respiratory Protection: None normally required for expected use conditions. If exposure
limits are exceeded or if irritation is experienced, appropriate NIOSH approved respiratory
protection with organic vapor cartridges should be worn. For emergency or non-routine
operations involving high vapor concentrations (such as enclosed areas) supplied air breathing
apparatus (such as an airline respirator or SCBA) may be required.
Protective Clothing: Wear chemical-resistant gloves, boots, and aprons to prevent skin
contact.
General Hygiene Practices: Wash after handling material. Prevent eye and skin contact.
Wash thoroughly before handling food, cosmetics, or before smoking.
