SYMPTOM S OF OVEREX POSURE:
Acute: Contains Sodium Metasilicate. May cause burns to skin and eyes. Symptoms of skin contact will range
from drying of skin, to redness, to irritation or burns, depending on concentrations and length of exposure.
A latent period may exist between exposure and sense of irritation. Symptoms of eye contact will be m ore
acute. Small quantities of this product can be destructive to eye tissue upon contact and possibly cause
blindness. Breathing m ists or sprays ma y cause irritation to upper respiratory tract. W ill be corrosive to
any tissues con tacted if ingested .

4. FIRST AID MEASURES:
EYE CONTACT: OBJECT IS TO FLUSH MATERIAL OUT O F EYES IMMEDIATELY, THEN SEEK MEDICAL
AT TE NT ION . Im m ediate ly flush eyes with large am ounts of water for at least 15 m inutes, forcibly holding eyelids apart
to ensure rinsing of entire surface of eye and lids. W ashing eyes within several seconds is essential for maximum
effectiveness. GET MED ICAL ATT ENT ION IMM EDIATE LY!
SKIN CON TACT : Imm ediately flush with larg e quantitie s of wate r for at least 1 5 m inutes , prom ptly removing contaminated
clothing and shoes. Launder contam inated clothin g before re use. D econtam inate or de stroy contam inated shoes. Consult
Physician if irritation develops or persists.
INHALATION: Move from contaminated area to fres h air. If bre athing difficult, oxygen may be administered by trained
personnel. If breathing has stopped, give artificial respiration. Get Medical Attention!

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Recovery and reuse rather than disposal, should be the ultimate goal of handling efforts.
Personal precautions: Us e pe rsonal protec tion rec om m end ed in s ection 8.
May cause slippery footing. Persons involved in clean-up must wea r app ropriate protective equipment. Keep unauthorized
persons out of area. Mop or soak up small spills. Do not flush caustic residues to sewer. Residues from spills can be
diluted with water, then n eutra lized with d ilute acid suc h as ace tic, hydrochloric, or sulfuric.
If larg e am ount is spilled, Dike and pum p liquid into suitab le contain ers or ho lding tank s. M ay also be absorbed with clay,
vermiculite, or inert substance and pack aged in suitab le contain ers for disposal. Ne utralize res idue with dilute inorganic
acid and flush area w ith water.
If spilled on the ground, contaminated soil should be removed and placed in proper containers for disposal. Do not flush
material to public sewer or waterway. Decontaminate all tools and equipment following cleanup. If disposed of, the
undiluted product would be, and its solutions may possibly be classified as a D 002 haza rdous w aste, d ue to th eir corrosive
characteristics (high Ph/alkalinity). All disposal should be in accordance to federal, state and local regulations.
7. HANDLING & STORAGE:
Educate and train employees in the safe use and handling of this product. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing!
W ear appropriate protective clothing to prevent contact with this product and its solutions. Do not wear contact lenses
when handling chemicals as they may increase the severity of injury if product comes in contact with eyes. Clothing, shoes
or other protective gear that is contaminated or soaked with this material or its solutions should always be pro m ptly
removed and not used until laundered or decontaminated. Contaminated leather shoes and leather goods should always
be destroyed. Do not take internally. W ash thoroughly after handling. W ear appropriate protective clothing. Always have
water available for First A id. S tore in pro perly labeled closed conta iners in cool dry p lace awa y from incom patible
substances. For industrial use only. Keep product and its containers out of reach of children. W hen handling empty
conta iners, all labeled pre cau tions m ust be ob served due to product residues . Do Not reus e containers until they have
bee n pro fessionally cleaned, re con ditioned, and old labeling has bee n rem oved. Do Not reus e for food or drink.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE OF CONTAMINATED EQUIPMENT:
Rem ove all traces of product and its residue before working on equipment. Maintenance personnel should wea r protective
equipment and cloth ing so as to prevent personal conta ct a nd should be inform ed reg arding n ec es sa ry precautions
app licable to this pro duc t.
8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION:
Personal pro tec tive equipm ent se lection s vary based on pote ntia l expos ure conditions such as handling practices,
concentration and ventilation. Us e protec tive clothin g which is chem ical resistant to this ma terial. Selection of protective
clothing depends on potential exposure conditions and may include gloves, boots, suits and other items. The selection
should take into account such factors as job task, type of exposure, solution concentration, and durability requirements.
Information on the selection of eye, skin, and respiratory protection for use with this material is provided below. Consult
your personal protection equipm ent provider for advice on equipm ent and clothing that is most suitable for your work
environm ent.
VENTILATION REQUIREMENTS: W ell ventilated area is adequate under normal conditions. Local exhaust may
be necessary if mists or sprays are generated.
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: NIOSH/MSHA approved re spirator should be worn where m ist or sprays are
expected. Ma intain, clean, and fit test respirators in accordance with OSHA
regu lations. Maintain and test ven tilation equipm ent.

PROTEC TIVE CLOTHING: W ear chemical resistant gloves made of Nitrile, neopre ne o r natu ral rubber g loves . Long
sleeve pants and shirt. Impervious sleeves and apron advisable when transferring
product from con tainer to produc tion eq uipm ent. If conditions dictate, wear protective
clothin g m ade of Tychem (R) SL or sim ilar m ate rial for handling wet m ate rial.
EYE PROTECTION: Close fitting chemical safety goggles and/or face shield.

containing this material are classified as RCRA hazardous waste if they exhibit the corrosive characteristic (pH greater
than or equal to 12.5) as defined in EP A rules at 40 CF R. 鈥?261.22 (a) (I).
At low concentration s in water when pH is adju ste d to neutrality, this product is biodegradable in a biological waste water
