Inhalation: Remove affected person from contaminated area. Avoid becoming a casualty. Apply artificial respiration if
not breathing. Urgently seek medical advice.

Advice to Doctor: Ingestion causses bleeding and depresses the central nervous system (CNS). The single lethal dose
for an adult is approximately 250mililitres.

SECTION 5: Fire Fighting Measures

Fire & Explosion Hazards: Avoid heat and sources of ignition. Prevent build up of flammable vapours. Hoses should
be electrically continuos and containers bonded to avoid static charge build up.
Special Fire Fighting Procedures: Material is a highly flammable liquid. Fire fighters should wear self-contained
breathing apparatus if there is a risk of exposure to vapour or combustion products. Vapour/ air mixtures may ignite
explosively. Flashback along vapour trail may occur.
Extinguishing Media: Foam, Carbon Dioxide, Dry Chemical Powder, and fog water.

SECTION 6: Accidental Release Measures

Wear appropriate protective equipment (see Section 8). Clear area of all unprotected personnel. Prevent entry

Absorb spill with soil/ sand and recover material into mild steel drums. Label drums correctly. Dispose in compliance
with local government regulations.

SECTION 7: Handling & Storage

Storage: Store in area approved for storing dangerous goods. Prohibit naked lights, smoking and switch off electrical
equipment likely to emit sparks (electrical motors, refrigerators etc). Keep containers cool and closed. Store only in
original or approved containers.

SECTION 8: Exposure Control/ Personal Protection

Exposure Standards: Propan-2-ol 400ppm 8hr TWA or 983mg/m3.
TWA is the time weighted average concentration of the work atmosphere for a normal 8 hour workday and a 40 hour
week, to which nearly all workers may be repeatedly exposed, day after day, without adverse effect.

Engineering Controls: Avoid breathing vapour and inhaling mists or aerosols. Use in a well ventilated area. Control
3
airborne contamination below exposure guidelines using local exhaust at >20m /m.

Personal Protection: Avoid unnecessary contact as good work practice, Wash contaminated clothing and protective
equipment before storing or reuse. Wash hands before eating, smoking or using the toilet.
Respiratory: We recommend the use of respiratory protection. Use judgement. For assistance in selecting suitable
