Identification
Product Description: Olefin fiber is a generic description which covers
thermoplastic fibers derived from olefins,
predominately aliphatic hydrocarbons.
Polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) are two
most common members of the family. A
combination of PE/PP resin can produce a
particularly useful binder fiber
Physical and Chemical Properties
The higher melting PP is the core portion of the fiber
and the lower melting PE is the skin or sheath
portion. In use, the fiber web is heated to a
temperature above the melting point of PE, but
below the melting temperature of PP.
Potential Health Effects/First Aid Measures
Potential Health Effects: Eye contact will produce a mechanical irritation.
Skin contact should produce no skin irritation,
swelling, or sensitization.
Storage
Storage: Store non-woven fabric in a warehouse equipped
with a sprinkler system. Do not store near flame,
heat, or strong oxidants, such as hot or concentrated
nitric acid or fuming sulfuric acid.
