HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION (CONT)
No vapour expected unless the product is heated beyond decomposition temperature in which case toxic and corrosive
fumes may be emitted. These can attack the mucous membranes.
SKIN: Non-irritant under designed conditions of use. When taken to high temperatures, molten plastics can cause burns.
INHALED: Not applicable as dust levels or fumes do not generate under designed conditions of use. Toxic and corrosive
fumes may be emitted if product is heated beyond the decomposition temperature
CHRONIC
Possible build up of metals in the body may result from continued chewing or sucking on the product
SWALLOWED: Not applicable
EYE: No known effects.
SKIN: No known effects.
INHALED: Not applicable.
FIRST AID
SWALLOWED: Not applicable.
EYE: Not applicable, however should eyes be exposed to decomposition fumes or dust, immediately irrigate with copious
amounts of water for at least 15 minutes with eyelids held open. Seek medical advice if effect persists.
SKIN: Not anticipated under designated condition of use. For skin burns, immediately flood burnt area with plenty of cold
water and then cover with a clean dry dressing. If molten material adheres to the skin, cool quickly with running water- do not
attempt to remove adhered plastic and seek medical attention.
INHALED: Not anticipated under designated condition of use. In the case of exposure to processing fume, vapours or dust
remove person to fresh air and loosen clothing. Allow person to assume a comfortable position and keep warm until fully
recovered. If breathing is shallow or has stopped, ensure clear airway and apply resuscitation. Transport to hospital or doctor.
In all cases of health concern, seek medical assistance from a doctor.
FIRST AID FACILITIES: No specific requirements.
ADVICE TO DOCTOR: Treat symptomatically. Product does contain low and/or trace levels of barium and zinc bound within
the plastic matrix.
PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
EXPOSURE LIMITS: Not applicable.
VENTILATION: Not applicable under standard conditions of use. Precautions such as local exhaust ventilation are required if
the material is subject to localised high temperatures in confined spaces, e.g. welding using hot knife/air gun, sawing with high
speed blade, exposed to naked flame etc.
PERSONAL PROTECTION: Not required under standard conditions of use but if there is a risk of thermal burn then
appropriate respirator, clothing and eye protection should be worn that meets the relevant Standards.
FLAMMABILITY: Combustible. On burning will emit hydrogen chloride, carbon dioxide and monoxide, oxides of barium and
zinc. Fumes are corrosive.
FIRE HAZARD: Combustible. On burning or under thermal decomposition conditions, the product will emit toxic and corrosive
fumes including carbon monoxide and hydrogen chloride.
FIRE FIGHTING: Remove unauthorised and unprotected personnel away and upwind from the incident. Fire fighters to wear
self-contained breathing apparatus. Extinguish with water, foam or dry agent. Prevent contaminated extinguished water from
entering drains, sewers and waterways.
