1 about Termi-nator

Termi-nator is Australian grown plantation pine structural framing that
has been treated with an organic pesticide to protect the timber from
termite attack.

Termi-nator is suitable for wall frames, roof trusses and any other internal
load bearing application where termite protection is required.

Termi-nator blue pine framing is treated with the same
chemical that is used in common citronella oil products.

Why is timber treated?
Plantation pine has little natural resistance to termites and fungal decay. However, it can be easily and safely
treated to make it resistant to the natural enemies of wood. Treating the timber has no negative effect on the
stiffness and strength of the timber. H2F treated timbers have the same allowable uses under the Building Code
of Australia with regard to 铿乺e rating.

Termi-nator is the best termite resistant framing on the market for a number of important reasons.

Unlike other brands of blue pine framing,
Termi-nator has no compatibility issues with standard

no need to rely solely on mechanical fasteners.

How to identify Termi-nator
To ensure genuine Termi-nator timber is being
used, all sticks of Termi-nator are clearly branded.
This branding stamp or tag also lists a code for the
treatment plant that manufactured the product (铿乺st
three 铿乬ures), the preservative used (next two 铿乬ures)
and the maximum hazard level to which the timber
may be exposed (the last two 铿乬ures).

Termi-nator H2-F
This branding is printed along every stick of timber at
1.2m intervals so that Termi-nator is easy to identify
on-site or during prefabrication. The blue dye usually
lasts for several months but is only a visual indicator.
The termite treatment chemical is colourless and is
effective for decades.

Colour consistency is not an indicator of treatment
reliability. If the dye used in the treatment fades, the
timber is still guaranteed against termite attack for 25-
years if the conditions of the warranty have been met.

Termi-nator H2
Termi-nator H2 treated timber has a tag attached to
the end of each stick. It is also generally identi铿乪d by
colour, with the timber being a red to light orange
colour. Like the blue dye in H2-F, the red dye in H2 full
penetration treatment is not intended to be colour fast
for long-term use and will fade within a few weeks of
exposure to the sun.
H2 full penetration treated products may have a
noticeable solvent odour. This odour will fade as the
solvent evaporates. The evaporation period depends
on a number of factors, but should last only a few
days once the timber is separated from a pack and
left in an open, ventilated area. By the time the
treated timber is used in construction there should
be no odour.

9 maintenance and safety

Maintenance
鈥? Repair any plumbing or roo铿乶g leaks immediately as water will promote wood rot.

鈥? Do not build structures against the side of buildings without taking necessary measures to prevent termite
entry. Consult the Building Code of Australia for recommendations.

鈥? Do not build garden beds or raise lawns against the side of dwellings as this can provide an access point
for termites.

鈥? Do regular inspections to look for termite galleries entering dwellings and have regular inspections by a
quali铿乪d inspection agent. If you are unsure, consult pest control experts such as the Australian Environmental
Pest Managers Association.

Safe handling procedures
When working with dry treated timber the following is recommended

鈥? Keep work area clean and keep airborne wood dust below recommended maximum exposure levels.
Use mechanical air extraction if necessary, particularly when working with power tools

鈥? When using power tools on the timber use appropriate personnel protection such as dust mask, safety
glasses, ear muffs and gloves

鈥? Cotton or light leather gloves are recommended for protection against splinters and cuts during
general handling

鈥? Wash hands after use

鈥? Do not burn off-cuts for disposal
