**** SECTION 3 - HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION ****

EMERGENCY OVERVIEW
Toxic by inhalation, in contact with skin and if
swallowed.Hygroscopic (absorbs moisture from the air).

Potential Health Effects
Eye:
Causes eye burns.
Skin:
Causes skin burns. May cause deep, penetrating ulcers of the skin.
Penetration may continue for several days.
Ingestion:
May cause severe and permanent damage to the digestive tract. May
cause vascular collapse and damage. Causes severe digestive tract
burns with abdominal pain, vomiting, and possible death. May cause
hemorrhaging of the digestive tract.
Inhalation:
Causes delayed lung injury. Causes chemical burns to the respiratory
tract. May cause coughing, choking, chills, fever, tightness in the
chest, and cyanosis (bluish discoloration of skin due to deficient
oxygenation of the blood).
Chronic:
Chronic inhalation and ingestion may cause chronic fluoride
poisoning (fluorosis) characterized by weight loss, weakness,
anemia, brittle bones, and stiff joints. Skeletal effects may
include bone brittleness, joint stiffness, teeth discoloration,
tendon calcification, and osterosclerosis.

**** SECTION 4 - FIRST AID MEASURES ****

Eyes:
Get medical aid immediately. Do NOT allow victim to rub eyes or keep
eyes closed. Extensive irrigation with water is required (at least 30
minutes).
Skin:
Get medical aid immediately. Immediately flush skin with plenty of
water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing
and shoes. Wash clothing before reuse. Discard contaminated clothing
in a manner which limits further exposure. Destroy contaminated
shoes.
Ingestion:
Do not induce vomiting. If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4
cupfuls of milk or water. Never give anything by mouth to an
unconscious person. Get medical aid immediately.
Inhalation:
Get medical aid immediately. Remove from exposure and move to fresh
air immediately. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Do NOT use
mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

**** SECTION 5 - FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES ****

General Information:
As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in
pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full
protective gear. During a fire, irritating and highly toxic gases
may be generated by thermal decomposition or combustion. Wear
appropriate protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and
eyes. Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) to prevent
contact with thermal decomposition products. Substance is
noncombustible. Containers may explode in the heat of a fire. Vapors
may be heavier than air. They can spread along the ground and
collect in low or confined areas. Contact with metals may evolve
flammable hydrogen gas.
Extinguishing Media:
Substance is noncombustible; use agent most appropriate to
extinguish surrounding fire. Do NOT get water inside containers. For
small fires, use dry chemical, carbon dioxide, or water spray. For
large fires, use dry chemical, carbon dioxide, alcohol-resistant
foam, or water spray. Cool containers with flooding quantities of
water until well after fire is out.

**** SECTION 6 - ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES ****

General Information: Use proper personal protective equipment as indicated
in Section 8.
Spills/Leaks:
Vacuum or sweep up material and place into a suitable disposal
container. Avoid runoff into storm sewers and ditches which lead to
waterways. Clean up spills immediately, observing precautions in the
Protective Equipment section. Avoid generating dusty conditions.
Provide ventilation. Do not get water inside containers.

**** SECTION 7 - HANDLING and STORAGE ****

Handling:
Wash thoroughly after handling. Use with adequate ventilation. Do
not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Keep container tightly
closed. Do not ingest or inhale. Use with adequate ventilation.
Discard contaminated shoes.
Storage:
Keep container closed when not in use. Store in a tightly closed
container. Keep from contact with oxidizing materials. Store in a
cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from incompatible substances.
Keep away from water. Keep away from acids. Do not store in metal or
glass containers. Keep away from strong bases.

**** SECTION 8 - EXPOSURE CONTROLS, PERSONAL PROTECTION ****

Engineering Controls:
Local exhaust ventilation may be necessary to control any air
contaminants to within their TLVs during the use of this product.
Facilities storing or utilizing this material should be equipped
with an eyewash facility and a safety shower.

exposure limits are exceeded or if irritation or
other symptoms are experienced.
