**** SECTION 3 - HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION ****

EMERGENCY OVERVIEW
Harmful if swallowed. Irritating to eyes. May cause sensitization by
skin contact.Hygroscopic (absorbs moisture from the air).Mutagen.

Potential Health Effects
Eye:
Causes eye irritation. May result in corneal injury. May cause
eye burns. May cause eye injury. Causes redness and pain.
Skin:
Harmful if absorbed through the skin. May be absorbed through
damaged or abraded skin in harmful amounts. May cause skin burns.
May cause reddening of the skin. If absorbed, may cause central
nervous system effects. May cause depigmentation of the skin.
Produces primary irritant dermatitis, sensitization dermatitis, and
skin ulcerations.
Ingestion:
Harmful if swallowed. May cause irritation of the digestive tract.
May cause liver damage. May form methemoglobin which in sufficient
concentration causes cyanosis (bluish discoloration of skin due to
deficient oxygenation of the blood). May cause necrotic changes in
the gastrointestinal tract.
Inhalation:
May cause irritation of the respiratory tract with burning pain in
the nose and throat, coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath and
pulmonary edema. May cause cardiac abnormalities. Harmful if
inhaled.
Chronic:
May cause liver and kidney damage. Chronic exposure may cause visual
disturbances. Laboratory experiments have resulted in mutagenic
effects. Prolonged or repeated contact may cause possible eczema.

**** SECTION 4 - FIRST AID MEASURES ****

Eyes:
Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes,
occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid.
Skin:
Get medical aid. Immediately flush skin with plenty of water for at
least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes.
Ingestion:
Do not induce vomiting. If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4
cupfuls of milk or water. Never give anything by mouth to an
unconscious person. Get medical aid.
Inhalation:
Remove from exposure and move to fresh air immediately. If breathing
is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical aid. Do NOT use mouth-to-mouth
resuscitation. If breathing has ceased apply artificial respiration
using oxygen and a suitable mechanical device such as a bag and a
mask.

**** SECTION 5 - FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES ****

General Information:
As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in
pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full
protective gear. During a fire, irritating and highly toxic gases
may be generated by thermal decomposition or combustion. This
material in sufficient quantity and reduced particle size is capable
of creating a dust explosion.
Extinguishing Media:
Use water fog, dry chemical, carbon dioxide, or regular foam.

**** SECTION 6 - ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES ****

General Information: Use proper personal protective equipment as indicated
in Section 8.
Spills/Leaks:
Clean up spills immediately, observing precautions in the Protective
Equipment section. Sweep up or absorb material, then place into a
suitable clean, dry, closed container for disposal. Avoid generating
dusty conditions. Provide ventilation.

Handling:
Wash thoroughly after handling. Use only in a well-ventilated area.
Minimize dust generation and accumulation. Avoid contact with eyes,
skin, and clothing. Keep container tightly closed. Avoid ingestion
and inhalation.
Storage:
Store in a cool, dry place. Store in a tightly closed container.
Store protected from light and air.

Engineering Controls:
Facilities storing or utilizing this material should be equipped
with an eyewash facility and a safety shower. Use adequate general or
local exhaust ventilation to keep airborne concentrations below the
permissible exposure limits.
