**** SECTION 3 - HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION ****

EMERGENCY OVERVIEW
Contact with water liberates extremely flammable gases. In use, may
form flammable/explosive vapour-air mixture. Toxic if swallowed.
Causes burns.Hygroscopic (absorbs moisture from the air).

Potential Health Effects
Eye:
Causes eye burns.
Skin:
Causes skin burns.
Ingestion:
Poison by ingestion. Causes gastrointestinal tract burns. Causes
cough, sore throat, chest pain, and lightheadedness.
Inhalation:
May cause irritation of the respiratory tract with burning pain in
the nose and throat, coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath and
pulmonary edema. Causes chemical burns to the respiratory tract. May
cause abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and inflammation of the gums
and mouth.
Chronic:
Not available.

**** SECTION 4 - FIRST AID MEASURES ****

Eyes:
Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes,
occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid
immediately.
Skin:
Immediately flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes
while removing contaminated clothing and shoes.
Ingestion:
Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical
aid.
Inhalation:
Remove from exposure and move to fresh air immediately. If not
breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult,
give oxygen.
Notes to Physician:

**** SECTION 5 - FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES ****

General Information:
As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in
pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full
protective gear. Reacts violently with water giving off flammable
gas which may explode. Can burn in a fire, releasing toxic vapors.
Extinguishing Media:
Do NOT use halogenated agents. Use approved class D extinguishing
agents or smother with dry sand, clay, or sodium bicarbonate. Do NOT
use water, carbon dioxide, or foam.

**** SECTION 6 - ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES ****

General Information: Use proper personal protective equipment as indicated
in Section 8.
Spills/Leaks:
Vacuum or sweep up material and place into a suitable disposal
container. Do not flush into a sewer. Remove all sources of ignition.

**** SECTION 7 - HANDLING and STORAGE ****

Handling:
Wash thoroughly after handling. Do not breathe dust, vapor, mist, or
gas. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Handle under an
inert atmosphere. Use only in a chemical fume hood.
Storage:
Keep away from sources of ignition. Store in a cool, dry place.
Store in a tightly closed container. Keep under a nitrogen blanket.
Keep from contact with oxidizing materials. Water free area. Keep
away from acids. Do not store in metal or glass containers. Do not
store in aluminum containers.

**** SECTION 8 - EXPOSURE CONTROLS, PERSONAL PROTECTION ****

Engineering Controls:
Facilities storing or utilizing this material should be equipped
with an eyewash facility and a safety shower.
Personal Protective Equipment
