**** SECTION 3 - HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION ****

EMERGENCY OVERVIEW
Irritating to eyes, respiratory system and skin. May cause
sensitization by skin contact.

Potential Health Effects
Eye:
May result in corneal injury. Causes severe eye irritation and
possible injury.
Skin:
Causes mild skin irritation. May cause skin sensitization, an
allergic reaction, which becomes evident upon re-exposure to this
material.
Ingestion:
May cause gastrointestinal irritation with nausea, vomiting and
diarrhea. Ingestion of large amounts may produce central nervous
system depression, headache, dizziness, diarrhea, and possible
hemorrhagic gastroenteritis.
Inhalation:
Causes upper respiratory tract irritation. Causes irritation of the
mucous membrane. Inhalation of dust may cause irritation of the nose
and throat. Inhalation may cause liver, kidney, and bladder effects.
Chronic:
Animal studies have reported that fetal effects/abnormalities may
occur when maternal toxicity is seen. Laboratory experiments have
resulted in mutagenic effects. Repeated skin exposure may produce
photoallergic contact dermatitis with persistent light reactivitiy.

**** SECTION 4 - FIRST AID MEASURES ****

Eyes:
Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes,
occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid
immediately.
Skin:
Immediately flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes
while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Get medical aid if
irritation develops or persists. Wash clothing before reuse.
Ingestion:
If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water.
Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical
aid.
Inhalation:
Remove from exposure and move to fresh air immediately. If not
breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult,
give oxygen. Get medical aid.
Notes to Physician:
Treat symptomatically and supportively. Individuals with chronic
respiratory disorders may be more susceptible to the effects of this
product. Persons with pre-existing skin disorders may be more
susceptible to dermatitis. To treat corneal damage, careful
ophthalmologic evaluation is recommended and the possibility of
local corticosteroid therapy should be considered.

**** SECTION 5 - FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES ****

General Information:
As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in
pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full
protective gear. During a fire, irritating and highly toxic gases
may be generated by thermal decomposition or combustion. Dusts may
be combustible when exposed to heat, flame, or oxidizing agents.
Extinguishing Media:
Use agent most appropriate to extinguish fire. Use dry chemical,
carbon dioxide, or appropriate foam.

**** SECTION 6 - ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES ****

General Information: Use proper personal protective equipment as indicated
in Section 8.
Spills/Leaks:
Vacuum or sweep up material and place into a suitable disposal
container. Clean up spills immediately, observing precautions in the
Protective Equipment section. Avoid generating dusty conditions.
Provide ventilation.

**** SECTION 7 - HANDLING and STORAGE ****

Handling:
Wash thoroughly after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and
wash before reuse. Use only in a well-ventilated area. Minimize dust
generation and accumulation. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and
clothing. Keep container tightly closed. Avoid ingestion and
inhalation.
Storage:
Store in a tightly closed container. Store in a cool, dry,
well-ventilated area away from incompatible substances.

**** SECTION 8 - EXPOSURE CONTROLS, PERSONAL PROTECTION ****

Engineering Controls:
Facilities storing or utilizing this material should be equipped
with an eyewash facility and a safety shower. Use adequate
ventilation to keep airborne concentrations low.
Exposure Limits
CAS# 80-05-7:

Germany: 5 mg/m3 TWA (inhalable fraction)
Netherlands: 5 mg/m3 MAC (respirable dust); 10 mg/m3 MAC (inhalab
dust)
Russia: 5 mg/m3 TWA

Personal Protective Equipment

Eyes:
Wear appropriate protective eyeglasses or chemical
safety goggles as described by OSHA's eye and face
protection regulations in 29 CFR 1910.133 or European
Standard EN166.
Skin:
Wear appropriate protective gloves to prevent skin
exposure.
Clothing:
Wear appropriate protective clothing to prevent skin
exposure.
Respirators:
A respiratory protection program that meets OSHA's 29
CFR 1910.134 and ANSI Z88.2 requirements or European
Standard EN 149 must be followed whenever workplace
conditions warrant respirator use.

Unspecified4,4'-Isopropylidenediphenol is expected to show moderate
to low soil mobility and will biodegrade in soil under aerobic
conditions following acclimation. In acclimated water, biodegradaion
will be the dominate fate process with a half-life of 4 days. In
nonacclimated water, this product may biodegrade after a sufficient
adaptation period and may adsorb extensively to suspended solids and
sediments or it may photolyze. 4,4'-Isopropylidenediphenol is not
expected to bioaccumulate significantly in aquatic organisms,
