Oral rat LD50: 375 mg/kg for oxalic acid. Very toxic. Oxalic acid is corrosive to tissue. When ingested, oxalic
acid removes calcium from the blood. May cause kidney damage as calcium is removed from the blood in the form of
calcium oxalate. The calcium oxalate then obstructs the kidney tubules. Investigated as a reproductive effector.
