EMERGENCY OVERVIEW:

Off-white powder. Exposure to incompatible materials may cause violent decomposition. Static charges
generated by emptying packages in or near flammable vapors may cause flash fires. May form flammable dust-air
mixtures. May cause transient skin, eye and respiratory irritation. Reactive: Exposure to temperatures above 131掳

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Procedure for Cleaning/Absorption: Clean up immediately by sweeping or shoveling material into a properly labeled
container for disposal. Wear adequate personal protective clothing and
equipment. Do NOT mix with vermiculite, Oil-Dri庐 absorbent, or any other
comparable materials that may be acidic. Recommended absorbents include
soda ash, calcium carbonate, clean sand, and clay if known to be inert and non-
acidic. Do not return material to original container. Do not flush to sewers or
surface waterways.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
WARNING!
PRECAUTIONARY STATEMENTS:
ORGANIC PEROXIDE.
FOR INDUSTRIAL USE ONLY.
Handling:
Store in well ventilated area.
Keep container closed when not in use.
Keep away from heat and open flame.
Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing.
Avoid breathing dust; if exposed to high dust concentration, leave area
immediately.
Wear dust mask, goggles, gloves and protective clothing when handling.
Use only with adequate ventilation.

Use respiratory protection where dust may be generated.
To avoid contamination, wash hands before eating, drinking, chewing gum, using
tobacco, or using the toilet.
Do not take internally.
Ground all equipment.
Blanket vessel with inert gas when emptying bags where flammable vapors may
be present.
Ground operator and pour material slowly into conductive, grounded chute.
For large bags (1000 lbs or greater) a ground cable MUST be attached to the bag
ground connection.

REPORTED HUMAN EFFECTS
No human toxicity studies have been carried out with this product. Due to the
physical nature of this material, it may cause eye, skin and respiratory irritation.
Dicumyl peroxide has been observed to be a mild skin irritant. Reported to cause
nasal inflammation and dilation of the blood vessels, which persisted for a
significant time after exposure was terminated.
Reports have been received of respiratory and eye irritation from heated vapor or
dust of organic peroxides when proper respiratory protection was not used.

REPORTED ANIMAL EFFECTS
No animal toxicity studies have been carried out with this product.



COMPONENT: Dicumyl Peroxide
Eye irritation (rabbit): mild conjunctivitis; no corneal effects. Not a skin irritant or
sensitizer in guinea pig test using Buehler protocol. Rabbit insufflation test,

repeated three times per day for up to four weeks at levels comparable with
workplace exposure, indicated nasal inflammation that persisted for two months
after termination of treatment.

For the component, dicumyl peroxide, acute aquatic 96-hour static LC50 value
falls within the moderately toxic range of 1-10 mg/L, according to the U. S. Fish
and Wildlife criteria. Fathead minnow was the species tested. The bacterial
multiplication inhibition test revealed no evidence of bacteriostatic activity at 5000
ppm. Pseudomonas putida was the species tested.
