HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Potential Health Effects
Skin contact may cause skin irritation with discomfort or
rash.
Eye contact may cause eye irritation with discomfort,
tearing or blurring of vision.
Inhalation may cause irritation of the nose and throat with
sneezing, sore throat, or runny nose. Inhalation of large
amounts of aerosolized respirable particles may cause
pulmonary edema (body fluid in the lungs). Symptoms may be
modest initially, followed in hours by severe shortness of
breath requiring prompt medical attention.
Inhalation of Perfluorethyl Iodide may cause temporary
nervous system depression with anaesthetic effects such as
dizziness, headache, confusion, incoordination, and loss of
consciousness; or temporary alteration of the heart鈥檚
electrical activity with irregular pulse, palpitations, or
inadequate circulation.
Inhalation of Perfluorohexane vapor or mist may cause
irritation to the eyes, mucous membranes and upper
respiratory tract.
Individuals with preexisting diseases of the lungs, or skin
may have increased susceptibility to the toxicity of
excessive exposures.
Carcinogenicity Information
None of the components present in this material at concentrations
equal to or greater than 0.1% are listed by IARC, NTP, OSHA or ACGIH
as a carcinogen.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
FIRST AID MEASURES
----------------------------------------------------------------------
First Aid
INHALATION
If inhaled, remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give
artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen.
Call a physician.
SKIN CONTACT
In case of contact, immediately flush skin with plenty of water
for at least 15 minutes, while removing contaminated clothing and
shoes. Call a physician. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.

Material Safety Data Sheet
(FIRST AID MEASURES - Continued)
EYE CONTACT
In case of contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water
for at least 15 minutes. Call a physician.
INGESTION
If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. Immediately give 2 glasses
of water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
Call a physician.
Notes to Physicians
Activated charcoal mixture may be beneficial. Suspend 50 g
activated charcoal in 400 mL water and mix well. Administer 5
mL/kg, or 350 mL for an average adult.
Because of possible disturbances of cardiac rhythm, catecholamine
drugs, such as epinephrine, should only be used with special
caution in situations of emergency life support.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Flammable Properties
Flash Point : None
Hazardous decomposition products incuding carbon dioxide,
carbon monoxide, hydrogen fluoride, toxic gases or particles
may be formed during combustion. These products may cause
severe eye, nose, and throat irritation or toxic effects
Extinguishing Media
Use media appropriate for surrounding material.
Fire Fighting Instructions
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Wear full protective
equipment. Cool tank/container with water spray.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Safeguards (Personnel)
NOTE: Review FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES and HANDLING (PERSONNEL)
sections before proceeding with clean-up. Use appropriate
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT during clean-up.
0730PP DuPont Page 4
Material Safety Data Sheet
(ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES - Continued)
Initial Containment
Dike spill. Prevent material from entering sewers, waterways, or
low areas.
Spill Clean Up
Recover free liquid for reuse or reclamation.
Accidental Release Measures
Place liquid in polyethylene lined waste drum for recovery,
then rinse area with water.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
HANDLING AND STORAGE
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Handling (Personnel)
Do not breathe vapor or mist. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on
clothing. Wash thoroughly after handling. Do not store or
consume food, drink, or tobacco in areas where they may become
contaminated with this material. Avoid circumstances that produce
respirable particles unless suitable ventilation and respirator
are used.
Handling (Physical Aspects)
Keep away from heat, sparks and flames.
Avoid exposure to light.
Storage
Store in a well ventilated place. Store in a cool place. Keep
container tightly closed.
Avoid exposure to light.
For safely thawing the product, place drums in thaw room or
hot water bath, at temperature not above 75C. Contact
DuPont for additional assistance as needed. Do not use a
metal band heater on these drums, or use any other method
that exposes the drum to extreme temperatures of
metal-to-metal contact.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Engineering Controls
Keep container tightly closed. Use only with adequate ventilation.
Vent heated extruder or dryer fumes outside work area. Do not
aerosolize. In spray applications, use airless type pressure
spray equipment at less than 60 psi, and exhaust ducts, drip
pans, or other design features to minimize worker exposure to
mists and overspray.
Personal Protective Equipment
EYE/FACE PROTECTION
Wear coverall chemical splash goggles. Additionally, wear a
face shield where the possibility exists for face contact
due to splashing or spraying of material.
RESPIRATORS
Where there is potential for airborne exposures, wear NIOSH
approved air supplied respiratory protection.
PROTECTIVE CLOTHING
Where there is potential for skin contact have available and
wear as appropriate impervious gloves, apron, pants, jacket,
hood and boots.

Exposure Guideline Comments
No AEL has been established for this product. Other
products with fluorinated material components have an AEL of
0.1 mg/m3 to 1 mg/m3 (8 hour TWA) for respirable size
aerosol particles.
Air monitoring studies conducted at customer sites
indicates that the use of the recommended low pressure
(less than 60 psi) airless type, garden type or deck
specific hand pump sprayer with spray tip orifice minimum
of 0.031 inches in diameter does not produce respirable
size aerosol particle concentrations near the AEL.

Perfluorobutyl Iodide is untested for skin or eye irritancy,
and is untested for animal sensitization. The effects in
animals from a single exposure by inhalation include labored
breathing, staggering and other nonspecific effects.
Repeated exposures produced nasal irritation with squamous
metaplasia of the turbinates. Perfluorobutyl Iodide was not
mutagenic nor clastogenic in vitro. The thyroid is the
target organ for repeated inhalation exposures in rats.
