Portland Cement 65997-15-1 30-40% 5 mg/m3 5 mg/m3 NE NE
Other Limits: NIOSH has recommended that the permissible exposure limit be changed to 50 micrograms respirable free
silica per cubic meter of air (50 ug/m3) averaged over a work shift of up to 10 hours per day, 40 hours per week. The
NIOSH Criteria Document for Crystalline Silica should be consulted for more detailed information.

3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
Eyes: Dust can irritate eyes
Skin: Product becomes alkaline when exposed to moisture and can cause dryness and alkali burns and effect the mucous membranes.
Inhalation: Dust can irritate the respiratory system. Respirable crystalline silica can cause silicosis, fibrosis of the lungs and possibly
cancer. There is evidence that exposure to respirable silica or the disease silicosis is associated with an increased incidence of
Scleroderma, tuberculosis and kidney disorders.
Ingestion: Harmful

4. FIRST AID MEASURES
Eyes: Immediately flush with cool water for at least 15 minutes while holding eyelids open, to remove all particles. Call a physician or
poison control center immediately.
Skin: Wash skin with cool water and pH-neutral soap or a mild detergent. If irritation persists, call a physician or poison control center.
Seek immediate medical treatment in the event of burns.
Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air. If breathing is difficult or if not breathing, call a physician or poison control center immdediately.
Seek medical help if coughing and other symptoms do not subside.
Ingestion: DO NOT induce vomiting. If conscious, have the victim drink plenty of water and call a physician immediately. Never give
anything by mouth if victim is unconscious or is convulsing.

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
Flash Point (TCC): None Explosive Limits: Lower (LEL): NA Upper (UEL): NA
Flame Projection (Aerosol): NA
Hazardous Products of Combustion: Non combustible
Fire and Explosion Hazards: Non combustible and not explosive.
Extinguishing Media: Use media appropriate for surrounding fire.
Fire Fighting Instructions: Firefighters should wear full protective equipment and NIOSH approved self-contained breathing
apparatus.

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Small Spills: Use dustless methods (vacuum) and place into closable container for disposal or use if not contaminated or wet. Use
