3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
Eyes: Very corrosive. Fumes from this product as well as direct contact cause severe burns and blindness. Do not wear contact
lenses.
Skin: Very corrosive. Causes severe and painful burns.
Inhalation: Vapors and mist cause severe irritation of nose, throat and lungs.
Ingestion: Very corrosive. Causes severe burns to mouth, throat, and stomach. Harmful or fatal.
4. FIRST AID MEASURES
Eyes: Flood with cool water for at least 15 minutes lifting upper and lower lids. Get medical attention immediately. DO NOT wear
contact lenses. If a physician is not immediately available, continue flushing with water.
Skin: Flood with cool water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention immediately.
Inhalation: Remove patient to fresh air immediately. If patient is not breathing, apply artificial respiration. Seek medical attention
immediately.
Ingestion: DO NOT induce vomiting. If conscious, give large amounts of water to reduce the concentration. Give milk followed by milk
of magnesia. Get medical attention immediately. NOTE TO PHYSICIAN: Unless vomiting has occurred, perform gentle lavage using
lime water, 1% calcium chloride, or milk.
5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
Flash Point (TCC): None Explosive Limits: Lower (LEL): NA Upper (UEL): NA
Flame Projection (Aerosol): NA
Hazardous Products of Combustion: When strongly heated, as in a fire, this product may produce carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide,
hydrogen chloride and acid vapors.
Fire and Explosion Hazards: Hydrochloric acid reacts with most metals to release hydrogen gas which can form explosive mixtures
with air.
Extinguishing Media: Water; Dry chemical; Carbon dioxide
Fire Fighting Instructions: Heating may give off toxic fumes. Firefighters should wear full protective equipment and NIOSH approved
self-contained breathing apparatus.

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Small Spills: Wear protective equipment and clothing before entering area. Ventilate area. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Contain
spill with a dike. Cover surface with sodium bicarbonate. Mix and add water if necessary to form slurry. Scoop up slurry and place in
suitable container. Wash area with soda ash solution. Only trained personnel should be present during clean up.
Large Spills: Same as above.
7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
Keep containers tightly closed. Store in a cool, dry place away from source of ignition. Do not let containers freeze, as they may split or
rupture. Addition to water releases heat which can result in violent boiling and splattering. Always add slowly in small amounts. Never
use hot water. Never add water to acids, always add acids to water.
8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION
Eyes: Safety goggles and face shield
Skin: Chemical resistant gloves and splash apron
Respiratory: To avoid breathing fumes, use NIOSH-approved respirator.
Engineering Controls: Provide adequate ventilation. Mechanical ventilation recommended when handling in enclosed/tight spaces.
